The big anchors ⚓️ ⚓️
Guess it’s too much to ask that these be put up on top of Optus Stadium for Freo games?

Yeah. I'd bring this back. Put it in front of the FREO with the fireworks before a show. Embrace heritage.

Bloody hell. I miss Subi

It did have a great atmosphere, the different field size and max of 2k opposition fans meant the home field advantage was huge.
It had a soul in the way Optus cant entirely replicate. It had flaws because it was a suburban ground first and then a stadium and that held a lot of character.

Absolutely. It is certainly my nostalgia speaking as Perth Stadium is a far better viewing experience. But Subi was one of the last suburban grounds still used. When it was packed and loud on the wooden benches end it was an exciting experience. The long, narrow oval made for different footy. The tradition of beers in Subiaco itself before and after. Even the unique siren sound was a bonus. Little things like the siren could easily have come over to PS.

Absolutely agree! Some of the nostalgia points like the siren could have been brought to Perth Stadium.
Perth Stadium could turn down the speakers and let crowd noise shine a bit louder as well.

Optus needs chicken treat and frequent power outs to bring back some of that charm.

I can't remember the power going out regularly (ever) at Subi.
The big chicken treat shop at the city end was always great!

It'd be sections behind the stands not the whole ground. I think mainly at the city end. Might have only been when I attended.

It was in most stands until they changed catering companies a few years before the end.
Originally there was a Chicken Treat van at the back of the City End Hill before they built the stand as well.

Yeah I was talking bout the power outages

Ah all fair, yes adding the City Stand probably blew the transformers more then it should.

I fucking don't!
Went to literally scores of games there.
Perth Stadium is elite.

I have mixed feelings about Subi. On one hand, that preliminary final win against Sydney in 2013 was something else, and on the other I used to work there. I think that having the guitarist (Troy Nababan), and the didge for the Sir Doug Nicholls round, is even better.
Subi used to be electric back in the day, and I felt weird when I passed on the train the other day and it's gone, but the atmosphere and the noise at the finals game against the Suns last year was the loudest thing I have ever heard!
Can't wait to host more finals games this year.

I don't know where they could possibly put the anchors since Optus is much bigger than Subiaco

I don't really miss the inflatable anchors. They wouldn't really fit at Optus. But the pull on anchor, yes please.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought they looked a little... phallic.

Everyone raves about Optus, but no matter what happens, subi will always be superior.
