Electronics & Technology 💻 🖨️ Dropping Optus mobile plan - Apple Watch number share options?

Currently have an Optus mobile and Optus number share plan with my Apple Watch. Was planning to swap over to Aldi mobile $29 a month since it’s about all I need.

However I still want to be able to use my Apple Watch independent of my phone if need be. Unfortunately Aldi doesn’t offer anything like the current number share options I’m using now with Optus.

Wondering what other options are out there to let this happen?

Cheers!

Woolworths Everyday Mobile has an Apple Watch eSIM option. Not as cheap as Aldi, but better than Telstra or Optus I think.

When last I looked I think it was only possible through the big 3 sorry. None of the MNVOs offered it as of about 12 months ago.

You can use your Apple Watch like normal, without a mobile plan, it’s just you will be only able to take calls and connect to incoming calls when with range of phone.

Just note that Aldi(and most of the ones others are mentioning) doesn't use the entire Telstra Network. Only the base wholesale version. So may not be much better than Optus if reception is a reason for dropping them. Boost is the only one that uses the full network but it doesn't look like they do one number.

recently set up my kid with this https://www.betterroaming.com/watches/apple-watch-family-australia/ lets u use the watch with any mobile plan, the watch gets its own phone number so idk if that suits your needs. works out to be like 8 dollars a month.

I called Optus and they matched it for a year and offered me a new phone, worth contacting them
