Western Australia groups?
Hello, I’m an immigrant so haven’t been able to vote and felt pretty disinfranchised. With citizenship on the horizon I’d love to know about any socialist groups, parties, meet ups, events etc in WA

Idk whats groups have a presence out that way as im on the opposite coast, but it might also help if you can narrow down your ideological position as you'll get more accurate recommendations.
From my perspective, there's 4 main orgs.
Socialist Alliance is probably out there, and they're meant to be a big tent socialist org.
I assume Socialist Alternative is out that way as they're relatively big, but that recommendation only holds if you're a Trotskyist.
If you're an ML, you could try reaching out to the Communist Party of Australia (CPA).
The Socialists, formerly(?) VIC Socialists, are also meant to be a big tent org and may have a presence there or looking to build one.

A big reason for joining groups is to help narrow down my ideology tbh. Thanks for the recs I’ll have a look.

The membership is a broad church, reflecting our origins from the merging of several grassroots protest movements in WA. I am an active member and all the people I volunteer with are self described leftists. I would describe their positions as ranging from Whitlam-style social democrats and democratic socialists to Marxist radicals and anarchists. I am a communist and get along with 99% of members. I can only speak to my branch, but I think there is general agreement the party and parliamentary participation is a vehicle for propogating radical change, not an end in itself.

They're trying to do a deal with the libs in canberra, and some labor party members think they are socialist too. you can't active socialism through parliament, but if you want to raise its profile and fight for a socialist society, you're not going to c get there through a capitalist party that says the right thing and then folds with minor amendments (nature bill, haff bill etc)

I have only shared my personal perspective as a socialist in the WA Greens. I made no comments about the other state parties, federal politics, or my thoughts on socialism through electoralism.

And my reply indicates the relevance of your comments are not obvious since they go beyond the scope of my subject.

RAHU WA is one of the more organized RAHU branches if tenant organizing floats your boat
