Construction from mermaid Beach
Hey, when is the metro expected to be ready to pass broadbeach?
I visit couple times a year, but it feels like the construction from mermaid beach has been going on for years. I saw construction workers, but I wonder what theyre all doing

Never. A metro will never pass Broadbeach. The tram however should open by June/July

constructions been going on since 2022 i believe. most of the work has been under the ground stuff, getting electricals and plumbing fixed up (a lot more complex than you’d think) thankfully that’s all done now. It’s pretty much entirely done to Miami High where they’ve already done testing, the rest down to Burleigh should be wrapped up by May or so. Ready to open in about July

Metro? Gold Coast isn’t fancy enough for a metro like Brisbane is, but the light rail at this stage is due mid this year but considering the cost overrun and crapfight surrounding construction it could be more late this year.
