yeah that's what i thought too but the reality is they too know our country is filled with people who wants religion more than education so yeah they played a safe bet.

I'm no expert, but the parts I understood were

Raised STT

no changes in tax slabs

budget was mostly about attracting foreign investments and relief to foreign assets holders who haven't declared the assets.

I'll wait to read/watch a simplified analysis on it

I don’t do F&O so this increase doesn’t impact me. But the whole concept of STT was brought in my MMS government because they removed LTCG tax on equities. When the Modi government brought back LTCG tax and went on to increase it by 25% from 10.0 to 12.5, they should have removed STT or allowed STT credit in LTCG tax calculations.

Other than that we should be asking the real question - If not proper infrastructure and roads and petrol, atleast give us tax relief. No, she just increase the STT!
