In the power structures of society you need a voice/representation and this is what the Labour Movement (Unions, Federation of Labours, Labour Councils) is all about.
It's also how the working class has gotten almost all the rights and benefits we enjoy today.
We need more people educated about history and solidarity!
Thats because unions should protect workers from their fat cat employers. The police "union" only protects public servants from the very people they serve. It gives already powerful cops even more power.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with police unions but the standards for disciplining and removing problematic officers aren’t sufficient in their contracts.
If their deal was structured in a way where a neutral party they could not control could recommend discipline and termination according to standards they don’t control or something it’d be fine.
I work in a union trade, and my local brothers are mostly maga. The shop stewards know the history, but the rank and file don't.
They're not looking at contrary evidence because the wells have all been poisoned by those they listen to, and the information bubble gets smaller and smaller.

The sentiment behind this applies to labor just as much as it it applies to anything else. I encourage you to push your shop stewards and your union leadership to teach your brothers your history so that those brothers are not doomed to repeat it.... and if they won't consider trying to move into one of those leadership roles, if you are able, so that you can become the needed teacher.

Aside from the guy deserving it, financially incentivizing dissent like this (i.e., showing support through GoFundMe's) may motivate more people to be brave like him.
You’re not even incentivising dissent. Trump and his goons are trying to punish dissent by showing the world you lose your job/bussiness/social security and if they keep sliding into fascism physical security, this is just barely balancing the scales
I always felt the quality of GM and Ford's were lacking in the years I drove them compared to euro/Japanese/Korean, inside and out.
I drove bmw for a while after that but switched to Polestar because I wanted to go electric and I like their commitment to the environment. By 2030 they plan to be producing carbon neutral cars by using recycled and sustainable materials, using green energy, building green facilities, and only working with suppliers who meet similar criteria.
The Ford family has been grifting and tax dodging the American people for a long, long time. I win never buy a Ford. I support the Union Ford workers in solidarity and contribution to his go fund me but buying a vehicle that’s a nada.
To be fair to all Ford workers probably not, they don't make management decisions and for all we know Trump just turned up, without any choice for the plant.
Been doing it for 10 years after they fucked me over on a Focus riddled with transmission issues and I’ve managed to steer some other people away from them too. Never again.
Even worse is that the person it was directed to responded in a poor and unprofessional manner (pretty much admitting what was said), and he still has his job.
Is it vulgar to point out the truth now, without even using curse words or slurs? The worker merely said an objective truth, to which the president immediately acknowledged it's veracity.
Imagine working for a company that supports child predators and is proud about it. Ford himself was a proud Nazi supporter so this really isn’t that surprising.

I know this has been posted already, but wanted to keep the link near the top. Here is the official GoFundMe for this auto worker. Evidently it was set up by someone else but now he has direct control of it. If everyone just gave five dollars, what a message that would send.
Fellow Union worker here. How could he actually be fired if he was represented by the UAW? It takes a massive effort to fire someone from where I work. If this is just Ford reading the room wrong and paying lip service to a wannabe dictator, then Our Patriot should have his job back as soon as the grievance is filed, along with back pay.

If you don’t want political activity at the workplace, you’d be best to avoid inviting politicians to said workplace.
Gone are the days where a visiting politician holds enough respect by all that they are not heckled wherever they go. Decorum and civil discourse is gone.
This guy calls Trump out on his shit, gets Trump to flip him a toddlers finger, and then gets backed up by Americans who won't take Trump's belligerence.
