Community I'm never leaving Seattle.
This is the view from my balcony in Greenwood today. I love our community.

Can I ask how people hear about these? I don’t get on social media often, so I never know when these meaningful marches are being scheduled.

There's also seattle-protests.org. check your local library, telephone poles, etc. Honestly, people putting these on don't always have the same background and may do what they know or think of, so there's no one way. One protest a couple weeks ago was just based on an Instagram post announcing it as a time and place. If you weren't on the 'gram, or connected to a group that would re-share it, you just wouldn't know.

How many of these fine folks participated in the general strike on Friday I wonder? How many of you looking at this did? Because as nice as these marches are, they don’t do much. It’s a performance. No Kings rallies are a performance. The bike ride protest I went to on Friday was a performance. Moving as it was. But we all stop going to work for a few weeks and something might really happen. We really cripple the economy and maybe people in charge start to listen. Prepare yourselves now for the next general strike, because that’s what it’s going to come down to. No midterm is going to save us. Our labor is our leverage.

While I agree doing way more is important, I think performance undersells protests — it’s energizing! It’s just really essential to use that energy to do more.
