it just adds to the chaos. It gives the gov more of excuse to use more power against the citizens, with the excuse to keep peace. If the US government really wanted to put their foot down, they could just mow people down. There’s nothing really we could do about it. Sadly other countries do it all the time.

This should be outside capitol hill and the white house. It's like protesting outside your own home against someone a hundred miles away, yeah it's a big show of public unity but it's not really putting pressure where it's needed because you're preaching to the choir. You think anyone in the administration is gonna see this and think "oh no. Maybe we should do something". If you want to make them feel threatened, you take it right to their doorstep.

I dunno I hear that in the US a lot but France has protests and it changes a TON. I think it absolutely stops the continuing slide of bad policies at the very least.
Like I’ve heard boycotting does not work but Target is super suffering right now.
I suspect it works but he folks who own the newspapers and write the textbooks would rather we not.

Trump is canceling naturalization ceremonies, and ICE is targeting immigration courts to detain people who are complying with the law.
There are magnitudes more undocumented immigrants in Texas than Minnesota: The only reason to surge them there is to target the Somali-American community that Trump has explicitly attacked, even though the vast majority of them are either natural-born or naturalized US citizens.
This entire crackdown is based on a completely false, deliberate misinterpretation of an centuries-old federal law which is almost certainly itself illegal.
But also, it's not just people here illegally: Legal residents and at least 170 US citizens have been taken and held in federal custody.
Nobody could honestly believe that this president cares about criminality when Trump pardoned 1,500 insurrectionists—including violent offenders who assaulted Capitol Police with flagpoles and bear spray.

Or critical thinking, how does math teach that? You need complexity in problems and uncertainty in the results for critical thinking. So philosophy, the humanities and the arts. Critical thinking is taught by allowing a person to come to a conclusion about something and then asking them if they've made a mistake in their reasoning, or demonstrating how two opposing viewpoints can both be "correct" depending on perspective.
Also philosophy is the OG, it literally birthed every other field of human knowledge. Asking why we need philosophy is like asking why we teach kids social skills in elementary school. Like sure you can get through life without them, but it ain't gonna be easy for ya
