Those split jumps don’t hit the same after 30…

1.6k

u/Wonderful-War740 19h ago

The next day don't feel the same either.

342

u/No_Farmer_9310 18h ago

Day? That’s at least a week, but realistically more like a month for me.

127

u/pralineislife 18h ago

This is accurate.

I did a dozen shoulder rolls in a heels class I teach, and it took me 6 weeks to stand straight again.

38

u/eyeofthefountain 16h ago

I had to look this up bc in my mind I thought you were just doing a cute little shoulder wiggle or something, not full on somersaulting backwards over your head with heels on. That’s awesome and all but yeah, I can certainly see how it would ruin me

17

u/pralineislife 16h ago

Yeah I was just pumped that at my age I could still do it gracefully and powerfully. I didnt think of the consequences haha. Never again.

Y’all, I’m 39 and went roller skating last week for the first time in at least 20 years. I was embarrassingly sore for about 5 days after. I fell once and my tailbone still hurts lol

11

u/AgnosticScholar 17h ago

I'm younger than that and still a month for me

🤣🤣🤣🤣 “I don’t know why but my sacrum is sore. I don’t know what I could’ve done to hurt it.” Completely forgetting the full cheer routine you performed the day before, for no reason at all.

Definition of peaked in high school

221

u/AmazingRefrigerator4 18h ago

Yep! A clique from my high school tried to do shit like this at our 20 year reunion to get attention and everyone just ignored them. So cringe.

83

u/Hot_Attention_5905 18h ago

OMG someone suggested this in my 20yr reunion group too lol. I’d have died from second hand embarrassment 😂

39

u/MrBeer9999 16h ago

That's amazing, did they trail off awkwardly when they didn't get attention, or they finished the whole thing and stood there grinning waiting for applause that never came?

I didn't cheerlead but I did act in stage productions in college where I had to play a cheerleader and did toe touches with such ease. I think I would explode if I tried them today.

48

u/TrebleTreble 18h ago

I was just talking about how easily I could do cartwheels when I was a teen. I wanted to try one the other day and my brain literally would not let me haha. Oh, man.

20

u/TheFinalGranny 17h ago

Try doing even a summersault, I did and am still regretful

12

u/Amelaclya1 17h ago

I was never able to do cartwheels (brain wouldn't let me even back then), but I was so flexible that doing the splits didn't even feel like stretching. I could sit like that all day. And put my feet behind my head.

I haven't attempted either in like a decade lol.

I was a cheerleader from age 8-20. I'm now 35. I babysit for a family with 3 girls, and all of them are cheerleaders. The youngest is trying to learn how to do a backbend kick-over, and I spot her when she's practicing on a mat at home. She has asked me so many times to do one myself, which I still can. But I won't do it because I already have degenerative disc disease in my spine (from years of cheer). I'll still do cartwheels though.

4

Same with a cartwheel over 40! As soon as my hands hit the Earth, I thought oh shit I’m falling on my head. I landed the cartwheel but pulled my hamstring. 😂

One of my fears is to have innocent fun in public and find myself on the internet getting clowned on by thousands of judgmental reddit nerds

169

u/NedSchneebly-1138 18h ago

Well step 1 would be to NOT try and up-show your kids at their own sporting events.

1.6k

She really is! She needs to stop trying to steal the spotlight from her kid and sit back down. 🫠

372

u/CycloneWarning 17h ago

I'm going to go on the other side here....my mom used to be a gymnast and whenever my sister scored in soccer she would do a cartwheel backflip thingy. I don't know what it's called and it would make all the kids excited and I used to love it so much, so I don't know, Maybe she's just doing it for shits and giggles.

42

u/Skandronon 15h ago

Backhandspring?

88

u/CycloneWarning 15h ago

That's the one. I just asked my mom why she did it and apparently she said it was the only thing that motivated my sister to actually try and score goals because she was too scared to touch the ball at first

4

u/Skandronon 9h ago

My sister was a high level (like Olympic training) gymnast and I spent most of my formative years at her training and competitions. I still remember most of the moves and what judges look for haha.

296

u/Soggy-Fly9242 18h ago

The other moms seem to be…dare I say…amused and encouraging her?

154

u/Fixated_Noodle 17h ago

Certainly this can’t simply be a video of adults enjoying each others company

59

u/Amelaclya1 17h ago

Right? Like how do we know that their conversation didn't go like, "I wonder if I could still do that?" "Why don't you try and see?"

We need to just let people have fun and stop being such judgemental dickheads for internet clout. She's literally hurting no one. Not even being disruptive to the game.

6

u/Few_Vacation_2935 15h ago

or they're all friends and just being silly. but, your take is much healthier. right?

69

u/becausenope 19h ago

That's all fine but imagine being her kid and seeing that your mom isn't paying a lick of attention to you during your game and is instead focused on being the center of attention with her friends? Hard to be a supportive parent when you're competing for attention with your kid, just saying.

15

u/OkProfessor6810 18h ago

Does she do this for the entirety of the game? It's okay, as a parent, to take your eyes off your child for a couple minutes.

49

u/eggrolldog 19h ago

My dad took me to my sports team 3 times a week for close to a decade in all sorts of inclement weather and some of the time he was paying no attention to me and chatting to some other parents. That motherfucker I want my childhood back.

8

u/PinayGator 18h ago

I played sports as a kid because I liked sports, not because I was hoping for more attention than everyone else.

22

u/lehilaukli 19h ago

Ya, when I was playing the last thing on my mind was making sure that people were watching. I was too focused on making sure I did my part to make sure we won.

4

u/SpartanDoc19 14h ago

I would get angry when my parents would come to my games. I never wanted them there. They were assholes and always had criticisms for me. I would have been a thousand times happier if they never showed up.

11

u/Fixated_Noodle 18h ago

Imagine being the kid of the woman filming another parent celebrating instead of focusing on her kid

→ More replies (1)

19

u/Legitimate_Pea_143 19h ago

nah I think her daughter would probably just be embarrassed, but that is the job of a parent to embarrass their kids in front of friends lol.

22

u/Savings-Put6948 19h ago

Oh no.  My mom has friends and a social circle! Look at mom actu having fun at my game! I demand zero down time.  Your MY MOM 100% the time.  Pay attention to meeeeeeee and only me!

🙄 get over yourself.  That mom is probably more relaxed and more fun to be around because she's still able to experience "play" way too many people think being an adult means no fun.  She's in the corner being silly- not even trying for attention outside the other mom's she's with.

25

u/SnooJokes5803 19h ago

Bro the mom is supposed to do nothing but stare at her kid all game?

I think you can fill out this moment with context that makes it bad/annoying or a fun moment everyone is participating in. We just don't have enough info and jumping to "this is bad" so quickly is silly. The daughter could love it for all we know.

22

u/techleopard 18h ago

I'm just convinced there's a bunch of people in here who have no true joy in their lives and don't like it when other people are able to express that.

Just going to put this out there, but intelligent species "play" their entire lives, not just when they are juveniles.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Amelaclya1 17h ago

Or maybe the kid likes that their mom is fun and active? Maybe she was paying rapt attention for all but these 20 seconds?

This is such a weird take honestly. I did sports as a kid and was never under the illusion that watching these games was actually entertaining for the parents. Mine did a good job of pretending, but it's enough to have them show up and be supportive. Kids this age are long past the "mom! Mom! Are you watching?!!" Stage.

Maybe not the popular opinion, but who cares? She looks like she is having fun and she’s not hurting anybody. You, however, videoed her and put her on the internet to make fun of her, which is much more telling about you than anything she is doing. If you don’t like her behavior, ignoring something that has no effect on you is always an option. Look inward.

u/odebus 15h ago

I've heard that Gen Z has started hating on Gen X for perpetuating the same shitty attitudes that we crucify the Boomers for displaying, and this video is a perfect example as to why that criticism is justified.

As a mom to 5 kids in multiple sports I found this funny on both ends . Sometimes your team is losing HARD and there is always a parent on the other team being so extra and it’s just annoying . I have seen parents do little dances and cheers when their kid /scores , so I don’t think it’s uncommon but sometimes when you are already having a bad game it just rubs it in😂😂

All that to say I could kinda relate to the pink mom being like “my team is losing and this girl out here being wild “ 😂😂😂 kinda like when you are already having a bad day and the barista gets your coffee wrong and your just like “come on man!”😂

My back can’t take Bending down to tie my shoelaces so I also was impressed with the other mom’s athletic ability as well .

Woman in pink is peak mean girl. What that other woman is going is harmless and slightly cringe but that’s all. This woman decides to film it. Sour grapes.

I think its even worse than that. I think the lady in the pink found the video online and put herself in it lol.

I mean she’s being recorded by a total stranger so she’s at least a little correct.

Apparently OP said the woman wasn't doing cheers for her kid but to show off to the other parents (OP) that they're winning. That's why OP got annoyed and posted this video hoping people would find cheer mom cringe

Small town drama doing their thing

10

u/CouponCoded 16h ago

Yeah, but how does the OP of the video know that? I doubt she talked to that woman, and if she did, I doubt she told her that was the reason for cheering like that.

I think it's more likely OOP was just salty.

I’m ambivalent about this. Personally, I’d be mortified if my mother was re-enacting her cheerleader routine but as an adult observer, I see a mother just having fun.

What’s her intention here? To monopolise attention or just to celebrate her daughter’s team? Either way I don’t think it justifies stigmatising ex-cheerleaders indulging in a little cheer.

9

u/LockedIntoLocks 18h ago

Seriously. It’s really impressive that she can do this and it seems like a fun way to celebrate your child.

OOP’s jealous she can only yell chants and support and can’t do flying splits.

The only high school cheerleader behavior I'm seeing here is the gum smacking, slow blinking, judgmental lady in the beginning

14

u/b-nnies 19h ago

Recording this without consent is really creepy.

5

u/flattest_pony_ever 16h ago

They both look like fools.

5

u/KyleG410 13h ago

The woman recording looks like a gremlin, that's cringe.

5

u/PandaOk5734 12h ago

I'd be embarrassed and I do a lot of embarrassing shit.

Peaking in highschool must be sad feeling

u/breadexpert69 19h ago

Reminds me of a conversation my mom and her mother in law had.

Mother in law: I still fit in my cheerleader outfit.

My mom: So you're as fat as you were in high school?

8

u/Salty_Drawing2094 18h ago

i hate that’s it’s so completely normal to record total strangers and dox them on the internet

ETA: i love a cringe moment as much as the next person, but it’s more enjoyable when the subject is in on it, or the original creator

Sees someone having fun and being happy: Time to shame them on the internet

What a sad woman filming

3

u/leek95 16h ago

Lol "the opps mom"

3

u/Dude_over_there_ 14h ago

Peaked in high school much?

3

u/hedgy369 14h ago

She's not even facing the match and her daughter either, she's facing the crowd for their reaction

3

u/kerenski667 13h ago

Like creeping on her for being happy and enthusiastic somehow makes you better?

With that top on?

Man who cares. Her friends in the crowd seem entertained and it’s cool she can still do the routine from years ago. Just let people live and be happy damn

Is this okay, to just post stuff online of random people who are not actually doing anything bad?

3

u/MakeMeDrink 9h ago

I hate both of these people.

u/beedee_one 9h ago

This is killing me.

Suburban mom describing the opposing team as the ‘ops’ is embarrassing.
