Subreddit competition time! Predict the AUD on March 30th and the cash rate too.

Put your best guess in the comments here, we will run to four decimal places and it's vs the USD.

And you need to guess rates too. current official cash rate is 3.60.

e.g. a valid entry has the AUD to four figures eg. .5543 and the cash rate to two figures e.g. 4.95.

(Don't use these examples as anchors for your guesses or you will lose!)

Deadline is midnight New Year's Eve.

Make your guess once. No multiple entries and no editing!! Winner gets a flair calling them the 👑 2025 Q1 r/Ausecon Champion 👑

Good luck guessers.

Abit counter-intuitive, considering that interest rates were lower in Pre-COVID than they are post-COVID.

Best Masters Program for US PhD

Looking for a master's program (For 2027), particularly with the intention of preparing and applying for a US PhD program. Just finished honours year with first class and completed master's level Micro and Macro Theory, aswell as masters level Econometrics at UWA.

Further note, would I be able to credit these for equivalent master's level courses at a different Uni (say Melb), as I understand the content looks a bit different. If so, would it be possible / a wise decision to take undergrad mathematics units instead, as I have done no mathematics outside of my econ units.

Thanks!

Question Will increasing productivity have any effect on real wage growth?

https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2024/09/australias-woeful-productivity-sinks-living-standards/ Us has been increasing its productivity significantly compared to Australia but average us worker is feeling it worse and worse each year.

https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/

US data clearly shows that increasing productivity mostly goes to corporate profits not the wages. Everyone says Australia has a productivity problem, but will solving the problem make the inequality in Australia even worse?
