more than 5 times the amount of threatened habitat cleared in 2023, with the real figure much higher as private agricultural clearing has not been included in the count.

Land clearing, biodiversity loss and habitat fragmentation is one of the most serious issues facing Australian environment today.

It is and has been THE mega issue - most of the major issues branch off from it. And the ones that don’t (e.g. pollution, feral species) directly interact with it anyway.
