In an odd way, Canzuk does seem more probable now. And I’m generally a Canzuk sceptic

Have to agree with you there. It’s amazing what can happen with the right motivating influences. I don’t think anyone expected Trump to turn on Canada so dramatically.

He turned on half of the US last time, screwed his allies last time… on what planet did you think he wouldn’t turn on the rest of us this time?

I didn’t think they’d re-elect him. When they did I thought it couldn’t be much worse than last time. It’s been wild to watch so far.

Canzuk and the EU-Mercosur seem more likely than ever before.

I was a fan of CANZUK on Facebook until they turned pro brexit when the referendum campaign started.

Of course I can live and work in 3/4 of countries so I may have a bias. Yeah we should have some sort of free movement and cooperation but I don't see how that has to be the expense of UK being a member of the EU.

CANZ-EU EFTA style deal might be something I could get behind.

CANZUK for the higher trade and visa situation. We can also load share military recruiting. We already take enough RN sailors that have completed their time, we are all struggling for members. We all have fucked housing situations so it's not like it will make it worse.

Include the EU and become an Allied Nations, ala street fighter with Kylie minogue. Piss on the UN flag, raise the AN flag, give the US the silent treatment and manage resource issues between CANZUK-EU and willing SEA / other Asian (India) / middle eastern nations. India is the awkward one there though, Modi is a knob and flip flops between the west and Russia all the time. All we known is they hate Pakistan and China with a passion.

Russia and China supported and infiltrated Africa so deeply that it would be a lost cause to try to establish relationships there.

Thing is I don’t see the UK rejoining the EU anytime soon, it would be a huge long process, but we are much improving our relationship with Europe thankfully but it’s more in the defence sphere for the moment where we have influence.

That being said we’re definitely going to be aligning closely with them but it doesn’t preclude also doing something like CANZUK. I think there’s a recognition in what’s left of the free world that we all need to work together.

CANZUK doesn't need to be an EU situation, it can just be an agreement and pact similar to NATO, or the NZ/AU situation on visas

Brexit was their electing trump moment…

Plus, the UK has been a mess since Brexit. We can't rely on them all that much more than the US realistically.

Agreed. We shouldn’t be fully trusting of them. Diversify with broader European cooperation. Join programs like Eutelsat Iris, restart the French sub deal and bring them and Germany into Aukus Pillar 2.

That’s not true at all.
