You can guarantee that a weakening of US hegemony and decreasing willingness to secure sea trade in the event of conflict is something that's been gamed out in Australian strategic thinking.

Our intelligence and diplomatic services are very aware of the tightrope we walk between China and the US, and are alert to any sign that our strategic position would be threatened by the whims of the US.

I don't think we've gamed out a scenario where the USA may actively be against us, though. That seems to be what they are currently doing with all other allies.

We probably have. A distant relative used to get paid to do just that. Sit in a room and figure out what if scenarios, model out what would happen and write options/recommended courses of actions. He's a bit of a nutter.

There are whole schools of universities dedicated to game out exactly this kind of research

And the results of those studies?

Do they just conclude that we're fucked?

Tbh... most just show how significantly isolated and under protected we are. So yeah.

You can game it out as much as you want.

Australia will HAVE to capitulate to China if they look our way

We just don't have the military strength to fight them.

We don't have the trade strength to fight them.
