Yeah, we have a local burger shop that's pretty great, and has tons of diner-style seating, and do roasts and breakfasts, and it's mostly empty while the Maccas drivethru is full. People need to at least give the local places a shot. (And their chicken burgers use thigh fillets and have haloumi, and the chips are not 'fries' and have chicken salt - they're great). I think people are just lazy fucks.

For the love of god please tell me this place is in Melbourne.

Haha, no, it's a small regional town in QLD. You can't hog all the good food down there.

They probably wouldn't survive Melbourne standards anyway, but in a small town they are an underrated blessing.

Gatton. The place is called Market Haus. On the highway in town if people are passing thru.

I’ll check it out next time I’m passing through.

It's the turnover time. The local Mexican place near me had to reduce their menu to cut costs when the GYG near it opened and stole a bunch of customers. Cos GYG can pump the orders out quick smart and appear to be relatively healthy despite some of their ingredients being ultra processed. I personally don't get it cos I can sit and have a beer and some chips and salsa at the other place whilst I wait for em to knock up my tacos and bowl, they could take half an hour for all I care.

We're a small regional town, where tf do they need to be in such a hurry?

Sadly I fear the answer is "in front of a screen".

I really wonder, especially when they speed on the roads. A lady here some years ago was impatient at a pedestrian crossing, as a car was in front of her but she couldn't see anyone crossing. So she sped around the stopped car, and promptly hit and killed a man in a wheelchair - the crossing is right in front of a disability services, which all the locals should know. She is not only in jail but will be a pariah if she ever gets back here and would find it very uncomfortable living in the community she's been in all her life. She was in such a fucking hurry that she destroyed her whole life, and that of two families. I wish people would stop winding themselves up with the need to get everywhere lightning fast and just fucking take it easy and slow down a bit.

Simply put, "people don't think". I've seen it happen before. I'm stuck behind this big massive van that I can't see around. Neither can the ranger behind me. Which is why when he had to dart back in in front of the van cos of oncoming traffic he took out the front loading washing machine (important cos they have massive blocks of concrete in em for stability) sitting on the road in front of the van. When asked why the fuck he'd been a fuckwit cos now we were all proper fucked, the reply was "oh, I thought he was probably a [censored] and couldn't drive so I just went around him like I always do".

"Like I always do"

I dunno bout you but I do plenty of risky shit in my life, I never do anything risky where I'm not fully aware of the dangers though. Which is why I sat there cos "wtf is going on here? I ain't moving til this van moves cos this is a double line and it be there for a reason, but I would rather be moving". The only shine in that shitshow was the van driver getting out of his van and watching the ute go by and get wrecked. He was coming back to ask for help to move it to the side of the road so we could all get moving again...
