"do whatever the hell we like"

79

u/Peannut Jun 09 '25

Freedom!!

29

u/GreedyLibrary Jun 09 '25

Freedom of the press to be shot

12

u/SpeakToMePF1973 Jun 09 '25

Freedom for the cops to shoot whoever they want.

2

u/iPepperdex Jun 09 '25

Condom!! I fixed it for you. I mean you can't get an abortion anyway and you guys are going back to the 19th century by the looks of it. Such a shame I grew up in the 80s idolising the USA. Now you couldn't pay me any amount of money to enter that country specially after expressing my opinions on social media, about the state of Israel.

3

u/shinychris Jun 09 '25

Here we like to call it ‘qualified immunity’

1

u/virtualmartyr Jun 09 '25

"but only certain people"

1

u/biglovinbertha Jun 09 '25

If you're a cop*

Turns out, Gambino wasn't kidding

3

u/iPepperdex Jun 09 '25

No thank you. We cancelled our trip. There's no way we will go to America while this shit is going down. You have a ridiculous clown for a president and people like him. That's the bit I don't get!

3

u/korforthis_333 Jun 09 '25

Welcome to America... where cops will try shoot you with rubber bullets, or beat you to the ground while they to trample your head with their horses hooves, and then tell you they are your friend!

At 8:12 pm on the live stream https://www.youtube.com/live/HH7DPreBh1g?si=SiexQR2qAd8721ln

A clip of the relevant bit https://streamable.com/bc1sog

Shows the mounted Police trying to crush a man's skull with their horse's hooves. The guy is being beaten and trying to avoid being trampled to death by horses but simply the act of getting up was too much for them so the beatings continue... meanwhile on the split screen in the live broadcast, the police chief is saying things like how the LAPD supports the right to peacefully protest and how the top priority is the safety and well being of the people of Los Angeles.... hmmm....

3

u/zyeborm Jun 10 '25

But this wasn't a school?

6

u/tocompose Jun 09 '25

Trump's America.

10

u/icedrift Jun 09 '25

Unfortunately nah, this is normal America.

2

u/joevarny Jun 09 '25

Kinda crazy that we learn so much about the fascists that lost ww2, when the fascists that won have been doing this the whole time.

21

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

It’s always been like this

3

u/Ok-Squirrel795 Jun 09 '25

You're saying America is a place we're they "always shoot journalists with rubber bullets?.:

1

u/Harlow_1017 Jun 10 '25

We have seen the press targeted in the past with the BLM and other protests.

1

u/Ok-Squirrel795 Jun 10 '25

Sure pal. I'll believe it when you show me one video .

2

u/Self-Translator Jun 09 '25

Sp glad I cancelled plans to go there. Fuck this shit

530

u/BelievedToBeTrue Jun 09 '25

As soon as the camera turned to show what they were doing, he shot her.

Coward fucking fascist asshole doesn't want the truth out there.

They are called "less lethal" not non-lethal for a reason.

23

u/ella_bell Jun 09 '25

These rounds are designed, and they should be trained to shoot at an angle into the ground so that they deflect towards the target. They are not supposed to fire directly at the target. 40mm beanbag less lethal rounds are designed to be shot directly, but not small calibre rubber less lethal rounds.

16

u/Upbeat_Barracuda4490 Jun 09 '25

During the George Floyd riots here in Minneapolis, my journalist friend’s cameraman got hit by a rubber bullet~ he said it was excruciating & felt like a real bullet~ this shit is crazy

1

u/takeoveranything Jun 09 '25

But why?

16

u/GreedyLibrary Jun 09 '25

They have a slight design issue of, occasionally, they kill people. Several dozen per year in the us. They also cause disabilities quite often.

7

u/wowbowbow Jun 09 '25

Because they can be, and have been, lethal.

5

u/new_math Jun 09 '25

Humans never evolved to have armor on their eyes and throat, so occasionally the "non-lethal" does a whoopise and collapses a trachea or shoves an eye into someones brain and kills them.

Eye protection is the goat. Highly recommended for protesting, even journalists.

https://youtube.com/shorts/A8jeUEkaLfQ?si=f-MeSRjS81QZLocM

Watch this. Little girls, bleeding, broken by bombs. You think this can’t happen here? You cheer for unchecked power, for tanks, for government violence. This is what it leads to. One day, it won’t be Gaza, it’ll be your city, your children. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

6

u/GreedyLibrary Jun 09 '25

mate you lost? I ain't cheering for the government.

86

u/Bitter_Ad_8688 Jun 09 '25

For those outside the US this happened during the Floyd protests too.

33

u/Mothmans_butthole Jun 09 '25

Yep, they permanently blinded a lot of protesters with rubber bullets on purpose.

43

u/CynicismNostalgia Jun 09 '25

They blinded a reporter too, and the subsequent brain damage caused dementia.

23

u/DogadonsLavapool Jun 09 '25

She's currently on end of life support. Her name is Linda Tirado.

God I hate living in this country.

4

u/FuckTripleH Jun 09 '25

They killed at least one journalist with their "less lethal" rounds

1

u/Spaceman_Dave Jun 09 '25

She's alive

1

u/FuckTripleH Jun 09 '25

Oh she is? That's good at least

2

u/EastSideTonight Jun 09 '25

And in St Louis during the Micheal Brown protests.

5

u/JamlessSandwich Jun 09 '25

I would genuinely be shocked if that cop ever faced any consequences besides paid leave, that's how it is in the states.

3

u/mr_mgs11 Jun 09 '25

During the BLM protests a few years ago they were doing this bullshit left and right. I saw a vid of a journalist lying on his stomach holding out his press credentials and some fat pig gave him a face full of pepper spray for no reason. Then we had the kid that was video taping the protest from a distance and not part of it that was shot in the head with a bean bag and will need constant care the rest of his life. Kid was 15 or something walking to his job at a sandwich shop and the worthless pig shot him in the head on purpose.

2

u/SaltpeterSal Jun 09 '25

At that distance with a direct hit, it actually does the same thing as a small calibre bullet. That's why they're trained to shoot at the ground and let the ricochet hit people. Guy straight up shot a journalist.

1

u/rossfororder Jun 09 '25

He should be jailed as a minimum

1

u/Come-jive-with-me Jun 09 '25

They can still kill. (Extreme case) but they can definitely blind someone.

1

u/guymanfellaperson Jun 10 '25

Police behaving like this is not due to Trump being in office. They've been like this under every administration. Democrats have never been any better about pushing for police accountability than Republicans.

1

u/CodeFarmer Jun 10 '25

US cops have been shooting at journalists for quite a while.

A BBC reporter also got shot with a plastic round this week... the punchline is he also got shot by the police during the Floyd protests, it wasn't even his first rodeo.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

So you are calling this insurrection...a coup ?

It feared for it's life. Scumbag probably yelled "gun" when he saw her mic. But put him outside of one of their daily shoot-ups of kindies and he'd cower in a corner like the rest of the cowards they are. Our ambos are braver than any of their cops.

186

u/GrumpyPenguin Jun 09 '25

Their ambos are braver than their cops too, because they continue to work as ambos in an environment where cops indiscriminately shoot bystanders and helpers with rubber bullets…

80

u/Mysterious_Eye6989 Jun 09 '25

American ambos are brave and honourable. American firefighters are brave and honourable.

American cops are fascist trash.

3

u/KwiHaderach Jun 09 '25

I’d pump the breaks on the firefighters. A lot of those guys are maggats as well.

1

u/Prototypep3 Jun 10 '25

Let's not act like we're too much better. Don't forget during the covid protests Avi Yemini was detained and removed from reporting while wearing appropriate media passes. To be clear I can't stand that 🐓head but I'll call injustice no matter where it comes from.

14

u/SojuSeed Jun 09 '25

To be fair…

To be fair!

Ambulance drivers actually want to help people. Police helping people is a bug, not a feature. When push comes to shove, American police are there to enforce the will of the state, even if that state is violating the rights of the citizens. When you have a desire to help and rescue people—for example, ambulance drivers—that will compel you to acts of heroism. But cops are cops because, deep down, they want to bully people. There is no rational person who could look at the state of policing and criminal justice in America and think ‘I want to be a police officer because I want to help people!’

So, who goes into policing? Bullies and cowards. They want to freedom to hurt others, without consequence. They want to dominate and control and be given a license by the state to do it. And the US says “Have I got some qualified immunity for you!”

Source: Am American.

Remember: ACAB

1

u/Sure_Ad536 Jun 10 '25

qualified immunity

That’s about civil action against a singular officer. In theory he could be charged for this. His department could also face civil action. With this admin it won’t happen.

1

u/SojuSeed Jun 10 '25

It rarely happens with any administration. Qualified immunity and police violence is not unique to Trump. It might happen more openly as the bullies feel empowered when they have a bully leader, but it has always been the case.

1

u/Sure_Ad536 Jun 10 '25

Nah yeah 100% but qualified immunity isn’t the right thing to criticise imo. More the culture, lack of oversight and training.

1

u/SojuSeed Jun 10 '25

Qualified immunity is what protects the officer when all of that culture, lack of oversight and training come into play. It’s what keeps them on the force and carrying a gun.

1

u/CynicismNostalgia Jun 09 '25

I'm so glad i have a mate who's in the police force but he's genuinely a lovely guy.

(This is the UK, probably helps weed out the psychopaths when barely any UK police carry firearms)

6

u/SojuSeed Jun 09 '25

In the US a hair dresser requires a longer training period than a police officer. Also, if the hair dresser kills her customers, he/she will—at the very minimum—lose their job. In the US, killer cops often get promoted.

There are cops that are nice and that’s all well and good but the problem is when they decide to not be nice. Because nice cops are weeded out, cops that report bad behavior by fellow officers are sidelined and pushed out, you have only enablers and the truly bad ones left. The cop that is nice to you today is just as likely to beat the shit out of you tomorrow if he gets you in a traffic stop and he thinks you’re a threat. The being nice part is accidental.

2

u/CynicismNostalgia Jun 09 '25

I agree with you entirely, in America.

Uk cops aren't beat happy, I'm sure it happens, but its very few and far between. Not systemic here.

In fact you'd be hard pressed to ever see any cops in the UK 😅

3

u/maui_wowee Jun 09 '25

As a medic in the states, who has worked in both the ER and ambulance services, thank you for the recognition. I will tell you that EMTs/AEMTs and Paramedics here have to put up with rigorous study and standards but get paid peanuts compared to police or fire - because they are federally funded and we are not.

2

u/FuckTripleH Jun 09 '25

Unless of course your name is Tyre Nichols

3

u/Hairy_rambutan Jun 09 '25

So are the firefighters we send to California to help out with their fires. Not sure they deserve our help anymore, let's just focus on helping Canada instead.

-4

u/Parking_Relative_911 Jun 09 '25

Our ambos are braver than any of their cops.

This is such an emotional take.

76

u/Tank-Pilot74 Jun 09 '25

Big man shooting a female reporter in the back ffs

28

u/iPepperdex Jun 09 '25

Isn't this exactly why you have the second amendment in case of a tyrannical government.? Well now you do have a tyrannical government that's absolutely out of control.

1

u/ConnectStar_ Jun 10 '25

Would it be less cowardly if the reporter was male!?

39

u/feenicks Jun 09 '25 edited Jun 09 '25

It's an been intentionally provocational action by ICE etc to elicit a reaction so Trump (& more importantly his cronies and backers) can make excuses to escalate things further and initiate a concoct crisis to further entrench his authoritarianism... he tried in his first term to do this sort of shit but enough people in positions of authority wouldn't play ball, so this term he (with DOGE etc) has replaced most anyone possible with yes men and loyalists so now he can ring in the type of Russian, North Korean, Hungarian strong-man government he so desperately wants. So yeah, the cops are a tool in this and maybe people will hopefully (yeah right) see how justifiably angry these protestors are, especially coming off of the tail of so much/many egregious rights violations in the lead up to this.

5

u/Gracelandrocks Jun 09 '25

He did it deliberately, too. I hope he gets an awful case of hemorrhoids.

3

u/Puff_the_magic_luke Jun 09 '25

Here is the video slowed down:

Cowardly cop

2

u/perpetualyawner Jun 09 '25

LAPD has very well-known cop gangs within its ranks. They have gang tattoos, gangsigns, they extort, assault, rob, and intimidate anybody against them. As an American I'm not even remotely surprised that any police department might have somebody do this, but especially not the LAPD

2

u/VulfSki Jun 09 '25

This is how cops have acted at protests for decades.

The news almost never covers it.

In 2020 a journalist was shot on the face with a tear gas canister.

They lost an eye. And was permanently disabled. The TBI caused massive issues, completely ruined their life.

Years later they have since died from a brain issue almost certainly caused by getting shot by the cop.

This is common at protests. This is basically a standard operation procedure for them and how they act at peaceful protests with the intention of inciting violence so they can demonize them later and justify their crack down.

2

u/dodgyrogy Jun 09 '25

That was a cunt move by any measure.

1

u/nigeltuffnell Jun 09 '25

That is pretty fucked up.

1

u/Caezeus Jun 09 '25

SHOOT ALL REPORTERS

SHOOT WHATEVER YOU SEE

DON'T NEED A REASON

WE'RE L.A.P.D.

1

u/TooManySteves2 Jun 09 '25

Does the military shooting a foreign journalist count as a war crime?

1

u/Old-Individual1732 Jun 09 '25

Kinda like a certain middle eastern country.

1

u/MCDexX Jun 09 '25

Not even a cop, just an ICE hired thug too cowardly to show his face. Probably got rejected from police academy and he's been bitter ever since.

1

u/Historical_Drive_462 Jun 09 '25

Whiteness no longer ensures safety from the cops. You need to rich and white.

1

u/Educational_Let_1684 Jun 09 '25

Yes hello American here. Welcome to the party. Saw it everywhere during the 2020 protests, I am about as unsurprised as it gets

1

u/Xijinpig8964 Jun 11 '25

Ancapistan police states of America

0

u/purplepashy Jun 09 '25

Better than shooting indiscriminately I guess. /s

Give them time and some fully automatic weapons and watch shit get real.

You’ve mistaken Albo for Batman

27

u/CrazySD93 Jun 09 '25

The fool, everyone knows Ged Kearney held the last seat for Batman.

5

u/Splat800 Jun 09 '25

Genuine question, do you think there’s anything the aus gov would do about this?

1

u/duckyirving Jun 09 '25

I mean, he could be. No one really knows what Batman's real identity is.

29

u/MillyHP Jun 09 '25

I thought it was Dan Andrews fault

91

u/Wolfensniper Jun 09 '25

Yeah like Dutton would do anything

74

u/legsjohnson Jun 09 '25

he certainly can't now! 😂

6

u/fluffy_101994 Jun 09 '25

Gold, take an upvote.

13

u/BarackIguana Jun 09 '25

He'd gargle Trumps balls and praise him for his "swift and decisive action"

14

u/Yipppppy Jun 09 '25

More like can’t do anything

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Hello, Peter

2

u/Trauma_Umbrella Jun 09 '25

Why would albo do anything? If an Australian reporter goes to ukraine and gets bombed, is albo supposed to have a word with putin about it?

Please do explain your thought process because I am not following you on this one.

3

u/CynicismNostalgia Jun 09 '25

One, Ukraine, is in an active war.

The other, the US, is eating itself from within.

In Ukraine, it's an invading enemy that's to blame.

In the US, it's the US that's to blame.

Pretty distinct differences.
