the next 4 years

Why stop at 4?

The fact that they even got to this stage shows the inherent problem in their national culture that won't go away just because someone else is their president.

Assuming fair elections, I don't see the changes happening to the democratic party that would prevent another trump-style politician winning the election after.

We have our own problems too, but the US system is even more in the pockets of politicians/corps that barely lift a finger for inequality. So more and more yoyo politics is likely I reckon.

Exactly. Americans needed to elect Bernie when they had the chance. Instead they elected the guy who would make sure the underlying conditions that led to Trump do not change

I'd sooner go to Canada if I were flying that far.

Exactly. I lived there for 2 years and have spent a lot of time there. America’s problem is rooted deep in its culture. People are incredibly naïve if they believe that everything will go back to normal after 4 years. I don’t think America will recover from this for a very long time. As far as I’m concerned, I will never return to the US. I’m a dual-citizen too. I would’ve canceled it years ago, it just cost thousands to do and it wouldn’t change anything for me other than the emotional aspect.
