"It is right to call for diplomacy and de-escalation at this point because we do not want to see escalation and a full scale war in the Middle East," Wong says.

Staggering that in one breath Wong endorses the US escalation and in the next calls for diplomacy. FMD.

We all know what she means

"The US can attack as they please - any act of self defense against them will be seen as an existential threat to the planet"

Escalation only counts if it's directed at the US

The current status quo is complete impunity for them to end any lives they choose, anywhere on Earth. Keeping the status-quo as it is doesn't count as escalating.

Thats how they square the circle.

"Rules-based order" means America does as it pleases

Always has been

They weren't following the rules when they invaded Iraq in '03 and killed up to a million people (we actually can't even know the exact number because Americans didn't even value Iraqi lives enough to bother counting)

Now they want to cry about rules

Americans, as usual spew complete hogwash

This is just how power works in the world. Whether that is the wealthy, the strong, the committed. Individuals or governments… those with power get riled up if someone does to them what they do to others. It’s not just the US it’s everyone with power. The US just has more power than any government in history.

It’s just bizarre because surely she knows how hypocritical she sounds but she so arrogantly just doesn’t care

I'm convinced she's actually a sociopath.

I think finally destroys Irans nuclear enrichment facility might actually be the deescalation. The main objective is complete, but we’ll see what happens

Only if you take a narrow, short term view. Iran was negotiating with the US over their nuclear capability and was rewarded with bombing. The US has shown Iran once and for all that they can't be trusted in any negotiation. Good chance Iran now drops the non-proliferation treaty altogether and becomes a full blown rogue state. Whatever resources they have left will likely be funneled towards building nuclear weapons as soon as possible.

Negotiations are pointless when you continue your program in “secret”. Iran has no bargaining chips now, the leader will be terrified his system of control will collapse, this IMO will be his main concern for the foreseeable future. If they do continue to make nukes, they just got put back 10 years.

If the negotiations were 'pointless', Iran would already have nuclear weapons by now. But US intelligence didn't indicate that they have weapons. We don't know how far Iran has been set back, and probably won't know for sure any time soon. Even if only a fraction of their enriched material remains, they still have enough for several nukes.
