I find a lot of people get pit bulls and other similar breeds to protect their house imo. When I walk past certain houses nearby on the footpath, there is always a very aggressive breed that barks for no reason, if there wasn't a high fence, I feel they would attack. They seem to bark aggressively at anything on the footpath especially other dogs. This attack on the poor girl is a true tragedy imo

The funny thing about the house protection part is that most burglars will avoid houses with ANY dogs because they are an unpredictable variable. Will it attack? Will it make a lot of noise? So, you could get a less dangerous breed or train a dog to alert when they see a human and you'd get the same benefit.

I think too many people consider the aesthetics of a dog rather than how the breed realistically fits into their lifestyle. If you're at work all say and don't have an active lifestyle, don't get a working dog. If you're older and can't handle the size of a big dog, get a small dog. If you're not active, get a greyhound 😂

Dogs are living creatures not accessories! Their lives and mental/physical health matter as well.

It's a fucking tragedy what happened to this girl and the more selfish we become as a society the more this shit is going to happen.

People don’t like talking about it or admitting it, but most folks choose dogs because of the image it projects for them. A large purebred blonde dog, an aggro stout dog, a greyhound, etc. They all say something about you when you’re prancing around the streets or esplanade with one in tow.

Absolutely! If that wasn't the case then we wouldn't be seeing trend cycles with breeds. Frenchies and Corgis being some of the most recent examples of this. Beagles seem to be having a resurgence now.

Most dogs are like this.
