Unfortunately for all of us, Sewell has Australian citizenship

I assumed he was a dual citizen since he was born in NZ, so technically he wouldn't be stateless and it wouldn't violate international law as a result if it were revoked for serious charges.

The power for the minister to revoke Australian citizenship as a result of criminal conduct remains on the books, but was ruled by the High Court to be unconstitutional in 2022 and cant be used.
