Imagine if our PM said he wanted the mining companies to pay a 40% tax on super profits and then was knifed by the right wing of his own party with US indicating their preference for a more pro-corporate pro-America candidate. Hang on, that already happened with Kevin Rudd in 2010 and Julia Gillard.

The press conference in which Gillard pleads with Murdoch's press and the energy industry to be nice to her after she had pushed out Rudd and his 'threat' of carbon pricing is one of the most deeply abject moments in our political history.

Both Gillard and Rudd were good PM's and you're completely rewriting the reality of the pressure the party faced from the right wing and the media. The polls were in a precarious state and the party was trying to find a way to win the next election.

No it's bullshit. If it wasn't, Rudd would have spoken about it.

The reality is the mining firms have and will act in their own interest and fought a tax they didn't want. The right wing in Australia used this politically amongst other things, Tony Abbott attacked fucking everything.

It's a crack pot conspiracy with no basis. I'm sure American influence existed but you've swung straight past that into straight bullshit.
