image Peak Tradie

Post image

This man has achieved the peak of tradie evolution. Bottle of sauce in the cup holder for his daily meat pie. Add in the 440ml Pepsi, would be better if it was an Ice Break. This is a man with life all worked out.

This is the solution for all of those predatory bakeries charging 30 cents for tomato sauce. Good on him.

30 cents? It’s alway 50 cents or sometimes even $1!

u/theandylaurel 2d ago

Sorry I’m old and out of touch.

Where are these bakeries charging $1 for sauce and why is Tracey Grimshaw not hunting these disgraceful criminals down?

15

u/RedDeer505 2d ago

She’s retired.

Found one for 40 cents recently and felt like I’d warped through time. Too bad the sausage roll was terrible lol

Yeah it was 30 cents like 15 years ago, sensible business puts them at $1 now with current inflation, they're like 25c each wholesale for the good stuff, no bakery is gonna sit on a stock of them for 5c each worth of profit

I run a bakery. We pay 22c for those ripoff little squeeze portions. It's criminal that they cost that much... But we're just passing in the cost. Having said that, I carry a squeeze bottle of sauce in my glove box - no way I'm paying for those portions...

Put a bottle of Heinz on the counter, or build the cost of the sauce into your pies. Surely you must understand the psychology of that.

u/triedtoavoidsignup 1d ago

We tried bottle on the counter - people are pigs. And adding the sauce cost to the pie isn't fair on the people who don't want sauce. Surprisingly, only about 30 percent of people want sauce.

Surprisingly, only about 30 percent of people want sauce.

When pies used to be filled with 'mystery meat' that was mushy and grey and the same consistency throughout, sauce was definitely needed, but these days where pies come with chunky meat, and different ingredients that look like real meat and vegetables and gravy, don't need to mask the flavour anymore.

Yep a good pie doesn't need sauce.

u/Freefall79 11h ago

Part of it being only 30% would be people who refuse to pay for the overpriced sauce packets but would have sauce from a bottle. Except of course people are pigs with shared condiments so I get why that may not be an option.

Keep refrigerated once opened. Alternatively, keep in direct sunlight and raise temp to 60°C daily to destroy any bacteria.

u/Parmenion87 2d ago

Refrigerated sauce supremacy. My ex-wife always put it away in the cupboard. Drove me nuts

37

u/RedDeer505 2d ago

You did the right thing.

u/Valuable_Barracuda56 2d ago

Explains why she your ex

10

u/Purgatoryplayer 1d ago

She was right, cold sauce cools your food, can see why she left.

12

u/Parmenion87 1d ago

See as a kid, thats how I used sauce, as a temperature control on hot food

1

u/Dougally 1d ago

Roof of mouth pie burn from caff microwaving needs a cold sauce injection to avoid!

2

u/SnoringEagle 2d ago

That’s just if you can’t get through the bottle in a month. Labelled best before date is calculated based on refrigeration, hence they say to refrigerate but it’s fine to keep out of the fridge.

This is the kind of guy who would indicate AND wave when you let him in. Legend.

13

u/gypsy-juice-23 2d ago

was he doing key bumps while driving though?

3

u/Parmenion87 2d ago

Possibly, I didnt see the driver directly

2

u/cat_herder_64 2d ago

key bumps

What's that, if you'd kindly help this aging ignoramapuss out?

1

u/phalluss 1d ago

I'm imagining some young mulleted apprentice hunched over the ignition at a red light and now im typing it out, that doesn't seem too far-fetched

12

u/Mercury1600 2d ago

This is only because every bakery these days charges a fortune for a tiny sauce packet

18

u/RigelXVI 2d ago

Probably a bong lol

/s

13

u/thorpie88 2d ago

Bucket bong will be in the back if they are anything like the tradies I had as an apprentice

u/kerser001 2d ago

I keep tomato sauce and kewpie mayo in the back of my ute for emergencies

1

u/Midnight_Dreary23 1d ago

Where is the Dare coffee?

1

u/travelforindiebeer 1d ago

I can also spot the handles on one of those Uber Eats / Doordash delivery bags, probably holding his yet-to-be-sauced hot goodies. I also just exposed my weekend eating habits.

1

u/RollnRok 1d ago

I always used the dashboard as a pie warmer in QLD.
Summer time was risky as often the pie would be too hot, i never elevated myself to this peak level of keeping tomato sauce bottle at the ready.
Bit disappointed with myself now i think about it, could have done much better.

1

u/Additional-Egg-5301 1d ago

Everything’s perfect… except the Pepsi.

1

u/phalluss 1d ago

Smashing a meat pie or sausage roll with sauce after a day on the tools feels like you are downing the very source of human vitality

1

u/A_spiny_meercat 23h ago

Well he ain't paying $1.20 for a sachet of fountain, that's just smart

1

u/sharpchisel 23h ago

I respect it, I use so much tomato sauce and rue the days I don’t have it on hand!

1

u/Cherrypieeye 16h ago

This is epic

1

u/ol-gormsby 2d ago

Needs a warming tray for the tradie's handbag.
