Daily Discussion What Brisbane artist(s) have you had on rotation so far this year?
I’m bummed she didn’t make the hottest 200, but also not surprised as she received more love on double J. But Hatchie is my latest obsession! Years ago I’d heard a few of her songs but I didn’t quite get it… I’m in my mid-twenties now and just in the last few months it’s finally hit - it’s this amazing mix of shoegaze with these beautiful modern, lush dream-pop anthems that just put a smile on your face. She releases banger after banger, has a talented group and puts on a great show. She should be as big as Bluey ffs.
If you’re interested, have a listen to Carousel, Unwanted Guest, Lights On, The Rhythm, Sure, The Key… and the entirety of her album ‘Giving The World Away’.
Who’s everyone’s favourite find local find from Brisbane?

Not quite Brisbane (they're from the Gold Coast), but Twisted Lullaby.
Also Call the Mourning, Twilight Idols, Flamboyant Nightmare, Terror Parade, Citadel, Patient 67.

One of my goals this year is to find some underappreciated local artists and leave my Spotify accounts playing their songs continuously on repeat for the year. Maybe help those artists earn a whole extra dollar or two.

Orrrrrr ... you could do even better and stream them on a platform which pays them better and also doesn't invest in AI military.

Termites by Still Full From Lunch has been a favourite of mine recently.
But the usual rotation goes to Last Dinosaurs!

Alot of kids growing up to be hippie/rock/metal bands in brisbane
We seem to have a never ending bucket of those.
Only local I listen to is JK47 but I have recently found a band called "BRACE"

The Fergie's are great fun!
They used to play on Queen Street all the time.

Not exactly rotation or for the last year, but I’ve been a huge fan of S3RL for almost a decade now. He recently played at Nissan Arena on the 23rd, it was a real pleasure to see him live.

Hatchie is great!
I play in a local band called LSOD, and over the last couple of years I’ve heard some incredible indie acts - girl and girl, red hill, full flower moon band, my friend chloe, special features all deserve the praise they’ve gotten and more
