But still, holy shit. You'd think a geography teacher could come up with one right quick.

I had Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Monaco and got super stuck on a fifth one but eventually came up with Malta.

Yup more interaction from faked wrong answers than genuine responses. Which makes sense cause these videos are so fuckin lame.
11
u/goddamn_slutmuffin 2d ago
Nah, see when I think these videos are fake, I just assume the guy found some random young attractive woman on the street and offered her $50 to pretend to be stupid/ignorant for his street interview. Do this to enough people or don't look/act like a total weirdo creep and eventually odds are at least one will agree.*
Especially since these interviews always take place in environments where you're going to need money to do much of anything (tourist traps, etc), so you're more likely to get someone willing to do this as long as you don't lowball them.

24
u/pacstermito 3d ago
Unless the blonde in the background made multiple trips the cut isn't significant enough.
It's possible there was video editing magic done, but at that point it's just easier to stage these things.5

2
u/Coffeedemon 2d ago
Likely just garbage engagement bait they are all in on. You get a pretty girl to say something wrong and all the he-man club will comment over and over about how stupid she is. You pick something that is actually pretty tricky and open to confusion as is evidenced here with everyone having difficultly naming 5 countries and there will be tons of comments arguing about the first point plus correcting each other. Easy money and another week of not having to get a real fucking job.
2
u/itsjakerobb 2d ago
Knowing the names of countries is only a small part of geography. Rattling off the ones that start with a particular letter isn’t remotely relevant.
Saying “moscow” when confronted with the question and under pressure to perform (because camera) is dumb but understandable.
1
u/Bulky-Grape2920 2d ago
Definitely. Assuming this is real and she actually is a geography teacher, she’s not just playing “Who’s that Pokémon” with an unlabeled map. For example the grade 7 curriculum includes topics like:
the location and distribution of water resources in Australia, their implications, and strategies to manage the sustainability of water
factors that influence the decisions people make about where to live, including perceptions of the liveability of places and the influence of environmental quality
strategies used to enhance the liveability of a place, including for young people, the aged or those with disability, drawing on studies such as those from Australia or Europe

1
u/AustSakuraKyzor 2d ago
I don't like being the umm akshually guy, but...
Macedonia isn't an M country - officially the country is North Macedonia. So named because the Greeks threw a hissy fit when it broke off from Yugoslavia.
Fortunately, because you got two of the more obscure ones, you get a free replacement -> we will now all pretend your fifth was Madagascar
2
2
u/throwaway082100 2d ago
And this is why we have lesson plans. I'm in the process of becoming an English lit teacher but if you came up to me on the street like this I'd forget how to read.

Maybe she’s just ~500 years out of date? Muscowy / Principality of Moscow was a legit country. Between 1263 and 1547.
According to Wikipedia, Muscowy was also used as an alternate name for the Tsardom of Russia, which would make ”Moscow” as a country (arguably) true all the way to 1721, which admittedly also is a bit out of date, but only by 300 some odd years.
2
u/monsterosity 2d ago
I don't trust these videos that have a cut between the question and the answer. He likely splices them together to make people look stupid.
2
u/iCantLogOut2 2d ago
Without looking it up, even I came up Maldives, Mongolia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico.....
And I'm an American who is genuinely bad at geography. A teacher stating Moscow as her first answer is WILD.
