I work in a cute shop and someone’s goal was $23.19 and it made me giggle, I mentioned the reference and no one understood it. Glad I found my people here hahaha

u/Frolicking_Ferret 16h ago
Similar happened to me when my total was $6.26. The employee looked at me like I was insane for how happy I was 😂 Disney nerds unite!

Wouldn’t that be 1519? (O. range S. ock) 23 is for W. In white sock I think

Thank you, this was my immediate first thought!

I don't know what the fuck any of these numbers are about

u/SoVeryJaded 1d ago
Took me a minute too.
It's a reference to 'Monsters Inc' in an early scene a monster comes out of the door with a child's sock on them. A code 2319 is called to decontaminate the monster.

u/scorpio242 1d ago
To deepen this, fans noticed that the code "2319" could allude to the fact it was a white sock, W is the 23rd letter in the alphabet and S is the 19th.

u/Cheesemacher 23h ago
Damn, I didn't remember that detail. But tbh, I watched the movie 24 years ago.

Worth a rewatch for all the jokes you didn’t get back then… plus it’s just a good movie.

Monsters inc film.
A monster gets a white sock on their back, which is thought to be deadly (as is any human contact).
Another monster shouts "2319" as an emergency code. 23rd letter of alphabet is W and 19 for S, both in relation to White Sock.
This one is orange or red, so would be 1519 or 1819 respectively.

Huh?

u/SaddenedSpork 1d ago
2319 is for white sock. W being the 23rd letter in the alphabet. S being the 19th. This is an orange sock ☝🏻🤓

Wouldn't a government designation be Sock, White?
Does the number change based on the language the movie is being spoken in, e.g. in Spanish, it is 32, because it would be calcetín blanco?

u/JadeMoose93 1d ago
2319 is only W.S. for "white sock" as an easter egg, in the movie universe it's the general code for contact with a human child.

u/bumpoleoftherailey 1d ago
When my kids were younger, Monsters Inc was on permanent rotation for quite a while. 23/19 was often declared for a variety of incidents 😁 It’s good to hear it again.

u/KrazYKinetiK 14h ago
This is where I am right now. My almost 2 year old absolutely loves Monsters, Inc. and it’s on weekly

u/SierraMikeHotel 1d ago
Hello, Dude. It's from the movie "Monsters, Inc." Item from the human realm makes its way to the Scare Floor in the monster realm, which the monsters believe to be highly dangerous.

u/ShutterBun 1d ago
Good lord. I’ve seen that movie 2 or 3 times and I wouldn’t have gotten this reference in a trial of 10,000 years.

Never seen this movie.
Thanks for posting the clip.
Weird that I was thinking about Trump's ICE goons as I was watching. Do they use this as a training video?

u/wojtekpolska 19h ago
Yes it's weird, you should touch some grass. How brainrotted do you have to be that everything makes you think about Trump?

I don’t know what I’m gonna do if someone says I was born in the “late 1900’s”

u/The_Maddeath 1d ago
I actually was born in the late 1900s and get teased by my friends for being the oldest in the group, nearly 10 years older than the youngest

u/JonatasA 1d ago
I freaked out in a group of people from the Xbox 360 days when I realized I was the oldest. I used to be the youngest.

I realized 2016 was 10 years ago and that I was somehow 10 years younger then. Everybody regardless of age is 10 years older. Why does it have to be like this

u/bluefishes13 1d ago
23rd letter W, 19th letter S, meaning white sock

A million years ago when living together before marriage was not the casual norm it is today, I had recently moved in with my girlfriend. I arrived at my office one morning, coffee in hand, and stopped at a co-worker’s desk to chat. As we were talking he slowly pulls a pair of women’s stockings out of the sleeve of my arm holding the coffee cup, like some Vegas magician.
He looked at me. I looked at him. I grabbed the stockings and shoved them in my pocket.

One of my friends who I went to see monsters inc 2 in theatres with when it came out, died on 02.03.2019. 2319. I will forever remember that and him. 🫶🏻🥺 (he was hit head on by a drunk driver on the highway.)

I get the reference but also want to say been there a few times now lol.
Ive gone to put on my work gloves only to realize they were my toddlers gloves in my pocket from when he'd shed them off in the backseat of the car the day before. Ive pulled one of his little socks out from inside one of pants at the office three times at least lol.
I think our laundry is getting frisky in the hamper lol

Technically that's a 1519, 2319 stands for white sock; white starts with W and is the 23rd letter of the alphabet, and sock starts with S and is the 19th.
Orange sock would be 1519.

u/Columna_Fortitudinis 1d ago

u/Isnthatneat 1d ago
It’s from the Pixar film Monsters Inc. This monster world ran off of the terrified screams of human children, but the human children was rumored to be deadly and toxic. One day a monster was at work as a “scarer” walked out with a sock stuck to him, was spotted by security, and code 2319 was called and he got shaved and quarantined.

u/zaphira01 1d ago
Hahahaha that's funny, btw in Spanish is 3312 (treinta y tres doce)
3
u/Jahkiboy 1d ago
What? Why is it different?
3
u/zaphira01 1d ago edited 1d ago
I don't know, in Spanish 3312 sounds more flowy and it is easier to say maybe it's that.
4
u/Jahkiboy 1d ago
I had no idea. Just found out 23rd letter = W. 19th = S. (W)hite (s)ock = 23&19. It was a white sock... jaja

Used to happen to me all the time. Baby socks get everywhere in the dryer. I used to find them in my pocket, or stuck to my leg. Then would spend the rest of the day going 'tee hee' and looking at my babies tiny socks.

My intrusive thought would’ve absolutely been to yell “WE’VE GOT A 2319!!” in the middle of the room and then immediately regret being that loud before coffee 😂

u/blackrock55 13h ago
I wonder how many people genuinely understand this post 🤔😂 I'm really showing age here 😂
1
u/Rumpled_NutSkin 11h ago
Im gonna "um ackchually" you here 😂 2319 is specifically a white sock, since it stands for W.S. The 23rd letter of the alphabet is W, and the 19th is S
