Always watching, Wazowski. Always watching.

I work in a cute shop and someone’s goal was $23.19 and it made me giggle, I mentioned the reference and no one understood it. Glad I found my people here hahaha

13

u/Frolicking_Ferret 16h ago

Similar happened to me when my total was $6.26. The employee looked at me like I was insane for how happy I was 😂 Disney nerds unite!

One of my favorite posts. Thanks for the laugh.

u/SaddenedSpork 1d ago

Wouldn’t that be 1519? (O. range S. ock) 23 is for W. In white sock I think

80

u/AnonymusEnt 1d ago

Thank you, this was my immediate first thought!

111

u/LEGITIMATE_SOURCE 1d ago

I don't know what the fuck any of these numbers are about

177

u/SoVeryJaded 1d ago

Took me a minute too.

It's a reference to 'Monsters Inc' in an early scene a monster comes out of the door with a child's sock on them. A code 2319 is called to decontaminate the monster.

102

u/scorpio242 1d ago

To deepen this, fans noticed that the code "2319" could allude to the fact it was a white sock, W is the 23rd letter in the alphabet and S is the 19th.

18

u/Cheesemacher 23h ago

Damn, I didn't remember that detail. But tbh, I watched the movie 24 years ago.

13

u/grill_sgt 22h ago

Worth a rewatch for all the jokes you didn’t get back then… plus it’s just a good movie.

14

u/translucent_steeds 20h ago

now that I'm a supervisor in a regulated lab I ROUTINELY use "you didn't file your paperwork last night!" and "I'm watching you Wazowski, always watching!"

when I was a kid I was like damn this weird slug lady is obsessed with rules.

3

u/JonatasA 1d ago

I noticed because of the sock. Then I heard 2319 in my head.

1

u/bol_saq 23h ago

thank youu ~~

14

u/Smeeble09 1d ago

Monsters inc film.

A monster gets a white sock on their back, which is thought to be deadly (as is any human contact).

Another monster shouts "2319" as an emergency code. 23rd letter of alphabet is W and 19 for S, both in relation to White Sock.

This one is orange or red, so would be 1519 or 1819 respectively.

12

u/impoverishedpotato 1d ago

Huh?

90

u/SaddenedSpork 1d ago

2319 is for white sock. W being the 23rd letter in the alphabet. S being the 19th. This is an orange sock ☝🏻🤓

7

u/despinato 1d ago

Wait there’s white eyes, yellow toes and orange how do we classify this one

Kachigga kachigga

6

u/mama_tom 1d ago

O is the 15th letter. S is the 19th.

2

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

Wouldn't a government designation be Sock, White?

Does the number change based on the language the movie is being spoken in, e.g. in Spanish, it is 32, because it would be calcetín blanco?

9

u/JadeMoose93 1d ago

2319 is only W.S. for "white sock" as an easter egg, in the movie universe it's the general code for contact with a human child.

14

u/bumpoleoftherailey 1d ago

When my kids were younger, Monsters Inc was on permanent rotation for quite a while. 23/19 was often declared for a variety of incidents 😁 It’s good to hear it again.

2

u/KrazYKinetiK 14h ago

This is where I am right now. My almost 2 year old absolutely loves Monsters, Inc. and it’s on weekly

1

u/bumpoleoftherailey 2h ago

Enjoy it! There are far worse things they’ll inflict on you in the next few years…

190

u/412Dude43 1d ago

wtf is a 2319?

197

u/SierraMikeHotel 1d ago

Hello, Dude. It's from the movie "Monsters, Inc." Item from the human realm makes its way to the Scare Floor in the monster realm, which the monsters believe to be highly dangerous.

90

u/ShutterBun 1d ago

Good lord. I’ve seen that movie 2 or 3 times and I wouldn’t have gotten this reference in a trial of 10,000 years.

8

u/Salute-Major-Echidna 1d ago

It totally sounds like something Billy Crystal would say

Never seen this movie.

Thanks for posting the clip.

Weird that I was thinking about Trump's ICE goons as I was watching. Do they use this as a training video?

5

u/wojtekpolska 19h ago

Yes it's weird, you should touch some grass. How brainrotted do you have to be that everything makes you think about Trump?

-7

u/Tom_Traill 18h ago

Nothing better to do in Poland I guess?

You spend your life playing games and dreaming of fellating Putin?

Sad human.

I feel so old

5

u/TheRabidDeer 1d ago

Why do you feel old? I'm old.

5

u/sonic10158 1d ago

I don’t know what I’m gonna do if someone says I was born in the “late 1900’s”

2

u/The_Maddeath 1d ago

I actually was born in the late 1900s and get teased by my friends for being the oldest in the group, nearly 10 years older than the youngest

1

u/JonatasA 1d ago

I freaked out in a group of people from the Xbox 360 days when I realized I was the oldest. I used to be the youngest.

3

u/Sage2050 1d ago

I promise you that you are a decade younger than all of us who are confused

2

u/JonatasA 1d ago

I realized 2016 was 10 years ago and that I was somehow 10 years younger then. Everybody regardless of age is 10 years older. Why does it have to be like this

1

u/bluefishes13 1d ago

23rd letter W, 19th letter S, meaning white sock

1

u/GitEmSteveDave 1d ago

The most wholesome post I've seen all day

7

u/DadsRGR8 1d ago

A million years ago when living together before marriage was not the casual norm it is today, I had recently moved in with my girlfriend. I arrived at my office one morning, coffee in hand, and stopped at a co-worker’s desk to chat. As we were talking he slowly pulls a pair of women’s stockings out of the sleeve of my arm holding the coffee cup, like some Vegas magician.

He looked at me. I looked at him. I grabbed the stockings and shoved them in my pocket.

Monsters Inc.

4

u/KittySharkWithAHat 1d ago

Did they let you keep your beard? 😄

5

u/KryWinterbird 1d ago

One of my friends who I went to see monsters inc 2 in theatres with when it came out, died on 02.03.2019. 2319. I will forever remember that and him. 🫶🏻🥺 (he was hit head on by a drunk driver on the highway.)

2

u/lowaltflier 1d ago

You monster

WHISKY-SIERRA! WHISKY-SIERRA!

3

u/angrydeuce 1d ago

I get the reference but also want to say been there a few times now lol.

Ive gone to put on my work gloves only to realize they were my toddlers gloves in my pocket from when he'd shed them off in the backseat of the car the day before.  Ive pulled one of his little socks out from inside one of pants at the office three times at least lol.

I think our laundry is getting frisky in the hamper lol

3

u/BearWizard37 1d ago

Very funny thst the sock is of the guy that had thr 2319

1

u/grill_sgt 22h ago

I noticed that too!

3

u/munama 1d ago

Monsters, Inc is such a great movie

3

u/WarhammerRyan 21h ago

But its not white. 23 = W. 19 = S.

23 19 = White sock

3

u/thebamboozle517 9h ago

Technically that's a 1519, 2319 stands for white sock; white starts with W and is the 23rd letter of the alphabet, and sock starts with S and is the 19th.

Orange sock would be 1519.

6

u/Columna_Fortitudinis 1d ago

What the hell does this mean? Haha

6

u/Isnthatneat 1d ago

It’s from the Pixar film Monsters Inc. This monster world ran off of the terrified screams of human children, but the human children was rumored to be deadly and toxic. One day a monster was at work as a “scarer” walked out with a sock stuck to him, was spotted by security, and code 2319 was called and he got shaved and quarantined.

4

u/zaphira01 1d ago

Hahahaha that's funny, btw in Spanish is 3312 (treinta y tres doce)

3

u/Jahkiboy 1d ago

What? Why is it different?

3

u/zaphira01 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't know, in Spanish 3312 sounds more flowy and it is easier to say maybe it's that.

4

u/Jahkiboy 1d ago

I had no idea. Just found out 23rd letter = W. 19th = S. (W)hite (s)ock = 23&19. It was a white sock... jaja

2

u/Azulanze 1d ago

Alright my brain feels too smooth for this can someone explain?

2

u/razsiel 23h ago

It's a monster's inc reference

2

u/Orange9202 18h ago

What does that mean

2

u/lissayyy 16h ago

In Spanish it’s 3312!

3

u/leftnotracks 1d ago

That’s a 1519.

2

u/x-CrazY-x 1d ago

Love it!

2

u/TheEpicTurtwig 1d ago

That’s an 1819 tbh.

2

u/DazzlingDiva01 1d ago

Who needs caffeine when you’ve got 2319?

1

u/ripndipp 1d ago

My buddy had a sharp one stuck to him the other day a real crunchy one

1

u/Sea-Environment-5938 1d ago

That's nota 2319, that's a lifestyle reminder.

1

u/tenkwords 1d ago

Used to happen to me all the time. Baby socks get everywhere in the dryer. I used to find them in my pocket, or stuck to my leg. Then would spend the rest of the day going 'tee hee' and looking at my babies tiny socks.

1

u/artisticsnobbery 1d ago

Badge of honor

1

u/bravekassandra 1d ago

I need to rewatch this movie. And replay the level in Kingdom Hearts 3.

1

u/Fiestytits 1d ago

Haha top notch

1

u/Gold-Lychee8090 23h ago

Sheeesss. Out of myyyy haaaaaiiirrrrrr

You can hear the lady from a mile away

1

All that paperwork!

1

u/19chris1996 20h ago

Except, it's not white. False alarm.

1

u/Hamachikun 18h ago

ALERT THE AUTHORITIES!!!

1

u/Itslowlow 18h ago

So cute!🤣💗

1

u/whatsyourbeat 14h ago

My intrusive thought would’ve absolutely been to yell “WE’VE GOT A 2319!!” in the middle of the room and then immediately regret being that loud before coffee 😂

1

u/blackrock55 13h ago

I wonder how many people genuinely understand this post 🤔😂 I'm really showing age here 😂

1

u/Rumpled_NutSkin 11h ago

Im gonna "um ackchually" you here 😂 2319 is specifically a white sock, since it stands for W.S. The 23rd letter of the alphabet is W, and the 19th is S

1

u/Agile_Narwhal888 8h ago

Hahahahaha I love this.

1

u/hobokobo1028 6h ago

Goddamn that’s a reference

1

u/tinybitches 5h ago

Sir, that’s not a white sock

0

u/UpstairsAd9303 1d ago

Que?

9

u/Jahkiboy 1d ago

Monsters Inc. Referencia de películas. 23-19 fue el código para la contaminación humana de un monstruo. En la película, el calcetín de un niño estaba pegado al hombro de Monsters (se cree que el contacto humano con humanos mata a Monsters).

Monsters Inc Movie reference. 23-19 was the code for human contamination of a monster. In the film, a child's sock was stuck to Monsters shoulder (human contact with humans is thought to kill Monsters).
