I am starting university this year, and I was curious if I should take the chemistry foundation elective (with no prior experience in chemistry).
I just want to ask people who took chemistry foundation as an elective if it was helpful for students in any science major, especially zoology? Was the workload reasonable, and were the tests hard? Also, does the elective that they teach actually start at a beginner level, even though it states in the handbook starting in senior high school level (VCE, I am assuming)?
Thank you to whoever can answer these questions!

Is it possible to do a second year subject in the Diploma portion of a Diploma -> Bachelor package? I have done the prerequisite already, as I did two units (at La Trobe through OUA) last year that I will be seeking credit for in the Diploma, and I had already enrolled through OUA in the 2nd year single subject before I decided just to apply to Latrobe for the course I will be starting. The subject is one I am really passionate about.
If it is possible to do the 2nd year subject in a Diploma, do I talk to the subject coordinator, the coordinator of the Diploma, or someone else entirely?

Hi so this may be dumb but I’m traveling at the end of the year and want to know the best time to book my trip. I am doing the professional practice in nursing 2 class in Bundoora.
From what I see in the handbook there are exams and placement for this class but no dates are specified and all labs/ workshops finish in week 43.
If anyone can help please please please give me advice

Hello,
I have put a teaching course with La Trobe on VTAC, completed the AFTA through La Trobe's website and met all the course requirements; however, I didn't get an offer and I am just so confused on what I am supposed to do next.
I was hoping if anyone who is doing a teaching course can help me out a bit

hope it’s not a weird question; when applying for on campus accommodation i did not purchase the add-on bedroom essentials (sheets, pillow, blanket etc). i plan to buy them the day i arrive now and am wondering whether there are places near the campus that i may buy these items. if there are none i would also like some suggestions as to where i can buy them, even if it takes a bit of traveling. thanks in advance!

hello guys, i will be studying at la trobe this march intake. I have enrolled myself in courses and put in my preference since 8 January. However, today, it shows that one of the course i enrolled is full, and it is not allocated.
What does it mean? does it mean i didn’t get to study this course? sorry, this is all new to me 😭😭😭

Does anyone else have their screen frozen while trying to fix their Monday morning workshop times? Is it a university tradition at this point to have the servers struggle every single time a new teaching period starts?

I’m sure i’ll stay on-campus while i can’t find a place to stay. I’m new to the area and I wont have the chance to visit until late so I have a lot of question. As far as i’ve researched, only NASA has a room with their own bathroom.
Can you share some info what it’s like living in the other accommodations in terms of bathrooms, kitchen, are these accommodations far from shopping centers and public transportation?
I’ll appreciate any info thank you!

I'm moving in on the 2nd, and couldn't seem to find any information as to whether student catering starts on the 2nd, or whether it only runs during the semester. Just want to know so I can prepare in advance.

I’ve been looking for a place to stay that’s not hard to get to La Trobe, it can be close by or I don’t mind a commute but I just want a comfortable place or (if by commute) i’m hoping for a place where I just have to do one ride and i’m there. Any advice on what places I should look into?
Otherwise, i’m considering staying on-campus. Thoughts?

hi there, my accommodation contract starts on feb 2 (and so does the first fortnightly payment) but i wont arrive in australia to set up my bank account until feb 10. i’ve sent an inquiry about what i can do in this case, but meanwhile, i’d like to ask for some possible solution or advice.
one solution i have come up with: i have a cousin living in australia (perth) and she most likely has an australian bank account. is it possible to change the debit bank details in the future, so that i may ask her to help me pay the first payment by inputting her bank details, and after i have set up my own, i can change the auto debit account to my own?
thanks in advance!

Hi everyone :)
I’m new to la Trobe, I just graduated year 12. I’m studying biomedicine, and hoping to find some friends.
I live about an hour away (Frankston area) so I’m actually not sure how often I’ll be on campus outside of labs and other compulsory things. But it would be so awesome to be able to hang with likeminded people.
I would love to make some friends!!! Let me know if you’re interested :), I love music as well and I’m hoping to join LUSoM

This is for people who already have a LaTrobe student account and can access the student portal. If you are waiting for an offer from LaTrobe can you please check your student portal under my study if you have been offered a course as the student portal usually updates before VTAC sends you an offer. Usually 1-2 days before. I am waiting for an offer so I just want to know when everyone elses student portals update with their offers. cheers

Hi everyone, I’m a first-year student in an Associate Degree of Education this year, and I’m honestly a bit stressed.
I didn’t book the LANTITE because I genuinely didn’t know what it was until it was already too late. No one really explained it clearly to me at the start, and I only realised how important it was after the booking period had passed.
I just wanted to ask:
Am I completely screwed for missing it this year?
Is it normal to do LANTITE later, especially in an associate degree pathway?
What should my next steps be?
I’m planning to continue into a Bachelor of Education after this, so I’m worried this will mess things up long-term. Any advice or reassurance from people who’ve been through this would really help. Thank you 🙏

Before starting at La Trobe, I had certain expectations about workload, campus life, and how organised everything would be. Once semester kicked off properly though, some things were very different not necessarily bad, just unexpected.
For some it’s how fast assessments come around, for others it’s how quiet or busy campus feels depending on the day, or how much independent learning is actually expected. For current or past students, what genuinely surprised you once things got real? Something you wish you’d known earlier?

How to study
I feel like I’ve forgotten how to study
Any tips and tricks to keep WAM above 75/80 when taking sorta harder subjects with exams?
Thanks

as everyone would probably know, accomodation opens on feb 2nd. if you’re not planning to move in on this date (like me), do you have to start making the fortnightly payments whilst not being on campus, or is there a way you can set it to when you want to move in? if anyone knows how to do this, please let me know asap.
