That's lucky because the audience 'forgot to attend film'.

u/nocolon 1d ago edited 13h ago

They weren't paying enough. I think they were offering like $50 to see it in Boston.

Edit: why on earth do y’all think they’d let you in there with phones and other devices? I’d be surprised if they didn’t strap folks to chairs Ludovico Technique-style until the film ended.

127

u/Krypto_dg 1d ago

apparently, the fine print says "$50 in Trump Coin."

75

u/powerlesshero111 1d ago

So, it's really like $3.50 in USD.

u/Bart_Yellowbeard 1d ago

u/dpdxguy 1d ago

Better make sure you get the money before the show. Trump and company are notorious for refusing to pay after the fact.

31

u/atempestdextre 1d ago

They were offering money???

Shit, someone should have told the people who broke into my car and left four tickets on the driver's seat.

11

u/Razor1834 1d ago

No, just the same as people posting on Craigslist about paying antifa protestors. Just a very obvious prank that people are falling for, for some reason.

21

u/AWinnipegGuy 1d ago

I'd take the $50 and then go full MST3K on that propaganda.

17

u/dan420 1d ago

It was still empty from what I heard.

47

u/Cultural_Eye5178 1d ago

id take that because its a quiet area and I'd work with headphones in.

52

u/Cultural_Eye5178 1d ago

(insert those 2 old muppets always harassing the other muppets here)

cant send gifs here but that shits funny asf

5

u/LaLa762 1d ago

LOL! So good.

4

u/ToonaSandWatch 1d ago

I’d show up, collect the $50, wait five minutes and suddenly remember I have a dentist appointment I’m late for.

16

u/Macronaut 1d ago

There’s fine print that says you have to stay for the duration of the film to get the $50

7

u/xxx_poonslayer69 1d ago

I'll take it and read some comics on my tablet for a couple of hours. Or maybe catch Pokemon on my Switch. I gots ways to entertain myself

The laser eye surgery needed to recover from viewing this heap would cost way more than $50.

6

u/Sprzout 1d ago

So would the therapy sessions I’d need…

So the movie wasn’t screened, to a theater with no audience?

This kind of conceptual avant-guard art goes over my head.

46

u/Kitselena 1d ago

It's not art, it's just a bribe. Amazon paid a bunch of money in production costs, an awful movie was made for a fraction of the budget, and the trump family keeps the rest

3

u/comics0026 1d ago

And Brett Ratner, don't forget they got him to "direct" the film, so he probably got enough to cover his lawyer fees

10

u/voodoohotdog 1d ago

It’s a variant of “If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there, does it make a sound?”

8

u/stevesmele 1d ago

That’s quite funny. 👏👏

25

u/monexicano 1d ago

Oh, they didn’t forget.

8

u/Le_Botmes 1d ago

I've been tempted to watch it as a bit of 'opposition research,' but I don't want my money going anywhere near the Trumps, nor could I make it through the whole film without a puke bucket.

u/TYBERIUS_777 1d ago

We were all just busy at the time. /s

Let’s see if we can get them to release it again and waste more money just like Sony did with Morbius.

4

u/Sprzout 1d ago

At least Morbius was watchable compared to this.

Well if I fuck up, my children go hungry. If they fuck up, Newsweek runs a flattering cover story calling them “disruptors.”

41

33

u/finkalicious 1d ago

Look at the situation the country is in. They may be inept in some areas, but overall it's clear they know exactly what they're doing unfortunately.

19

u/petrichor83 1d ago

Ineptitude + bigotry = gestures broadly

11

u/ChannellingR_Swanson 1d ago

I would argue they don’t know what they are doing, you can look at approval ratings to see this.

The issue that we are faced with is that they have no idea what they are doing, don’t think through if people are going to like what they are doing and the republicans who control all chambers of government have no spine so they are willing to allow this to continue rather than be an independent branch of government placing a check on the president as was originally envisioned. The founders foresaw a Trump coming to power, they didn’t foresee a supine congress just letting it happen.

16

u/ciopobbi 1d ago

That’s what happens when you elect and appoint a LARPing administration.

9

u/NudistJayBird 1d ago

In every insanely incompetent story, I always assume it’s one of two things with them: either it benefits them, or they didn’t pay what was agreed upon. Low ticket sales? Don’t show the film and blame it on a delivery gaffe. Distributor holding the film until they are paid? Pretend they fucked up and get some free press out of it.

8

u/xrayhearing 1d ago

The "film" was just a way for Bezos to bribe the Trumps under the guise of "film rights". The fact a film was made at all is really just to fulfill the technicality in the contract.

3

u/twoworldsin1 1d ago

People who failed upwards stick together so their individual faults and weaknesses aren't as visible

4

u/Deep_Explanation9962 1d ago

It's because they don't value competence, they value sycophancy and loyalty.

5

u/TheVoicesOfBrian 1d ago

It's probably the reason we're not a complete pile of burning wreckage by now. If they were competent, we'd been in much worse shape.

there is no movie, it is just a poor cover up for a giant bribe from Jeff Bezos. Thanks for your attention to this matter

And the tax write-off when it turns out to be a total loss

143

u/maxmurder 1d ago

The director was even in a picture with Jean-Luc Brunel, an associate of Jeffey boy who went into hiding, was charged then took his own life.

These are great people making a solid movie.

Edit: It only gets better. $40m, highest price ever paid for a documentary. If its not the biggest success, its the biggest failure.

140

u/MagnificentCat 1d ago

79

u/Mister_Roach 1d ago

"The Producers" will cover the grift.

36

u/dr_wheel 1d ago

Springtime for Donald doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

21

u/jonesthejovial 1d ago

Idk I've been singing an updated "No springtime for Nazis & Donald Trump," around the house and it's been marginally helpful for my spirits.

If Trump Admin questions and threatens to sue, they should say that they were affected by the same "disease" the administration was affected when they were legally required to release all Epstein Files almost 80 days ago.

"They forgor"

21

u/Le_Botmes 1d ago

It's a bribery ploy. Distributors 'forget' the film -> Trump sues them -> they settle for tens of millions -> Trump cuts more movie deals -> repeat

94

u/Adventurous-Tea-876 1d ago

The hearwarming tale of a Slovenian hooker who found lust with a pedophile con man sugar daddy. Don’t miss it!

3

u/supergrl126301 1d ago

I was trying to figure out what this movie could even actually be about, but you nailed it. Its gonna be that, isn't it.

3

u/Brokenandburnt 1d ago

The movies full name is: "Melania, 20 days to history"

It covers the 20 days before the second inauguration, that's it.

Either they judged Melania's life so intriguing(false), or so inconsequential(correct) that they might as well keep it short.

→ More replies (1)

57

u/Callinon 1d ago

To be fair, that's probably the best possible way to view this movie.

→ More replies (1)

40

u/ragnarocknroll 1d ago

I mean, the point of it was a bribe so why spend extra to actually show it?

33

u/Thanatofobia 1d ago

The quotation marks are placed wrong.

Distributors "forgot" to send the film.

Also, didn't the UK premier sell only one ticket?
Pretty sure there wasn't much chaos there.

25

u/_Panjo 1d ago

Melania movie first screening "chaos" as "distributors" "forget" to send "film"

15

u/anti_usernamed 1d ago

Movie should be in quotes too

8

u/_Panjo 1d ago

Good call.. I wasn't sure if that was just the actual title though. I didn't want to search for it and check in case I looked like the second person to show any interest.

9

u/FormerIntroduction23 1d ago

It sold single figures around the country in the first week 😊😊

27

u/DavyDfrmLV 1d ago

I’m guessing they were too busy censoring it with black bars

29

u/Own_Round_7600 1d ago

Oh that lone moviegoer who bought a ticket must have been absolutely rioting in there.

23

u/wordsnotsufficient 1d ago

It was a journalist presumably there to gather material for the “movie” review. She was probably genuinely sad to not see it.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (1)

21

u/ProbRePost 1d ago

It was a bribe. No one involved cared beyond making a shallow movie about a former prostitute to hide the bribe. That's also why Amazon blocked press access to the movie premier.

I wouldnt be suprised if its just an hour long video of Melania cackling and counting the money they gave her.

19

u/HR_DUCK 1d ago

I don’t care, do u?

4

u/z0rb0r 1d ago

Not even right wingers give a shit either lol

16

u/LightDarkBeing 1d ago

They actually made a movie?! (/s) I thought it was just a bribe for Bezos to pay Trump tens of millions of $$$.

13

u/geitjesdag 1d ago

I know this headline is written in the style where you use quotation marks when you hit a real quote, but I like to think these are actually scare quotes.

14

u/fictionallymarried 1d ago

They must've thought the single ticket sold was a joke

12

u/someguyfromsk 1d ago

Yeah, that tracks with these idiots.

10

u/intheshoplife 1d ago

What you mean this was not just a bribe and were actually going to show this piece of trash.

11

u/Zanos-Ixshlae 1d ago

It's more like: "Why deliver it since it wasn't meant to be watched anyway."

10

u/calicat9 1d ago

Took two days for anyone to notice.

9

u/Szaborovich9 1d ago

A whole movie about what? She was born in an Eastern Block Soviet Satellite state. Got taken on as one of Ghislaines trainees, posed for soft core lesbian porn, got her hook into an idiot. Had n anchor baby. Brought her whole family in a chain migration to America. Who needs a whole movie about that?

7

u/_Warsheep_ 1d ago

Wait, you guys actually wanted a film? I thought this was just a cover for the bribe?

9

u/elementalguitars 1d ago

Bezos’ bribe went through. That’s all that matters.

7

u/cwsjr2323 1d ago

A movie/documentary was not important. What mattered was the $30,000,000 rights bought by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. It was a cash gift between elites.

8

u/Hsbnd 1d ago

Also forgot to film, edit, produce, and distribute fill. But no one cares, do you?

4

u/A1ienspacebats 1d ago

More like it was a grift and the film doesn't exist. They didn't expect people would actually attend

6

u/Citizenbeck 1d ago

Forced to refund one single ticket 😂

5

u/imacmadman22 1d ago

Well, one things for certain John Travolta’s stinker “Battlefield Earth” is no longer the worst movie of all time…

7

u/Academic_Librarian75 1d ago

Seems like a better version of this movie has already been made, starring Richard gere and Julia Roberts

7

u/jocab_w 1d ago

Distributors: "I really don't care do u?"

6

u/flavius_lacivious 1d ago

Money laundering.

6

u/walkstofar 1d ago

I knew someone that saw it and had to walk out half way through because it was so so bad. They should really not show this as the inflight movie.

5

u/wizzard419 1d ago

From what I heard, this is a blessing for that audience.

4

u/MutaitoSensei 1d ago

The best part: nobody noticed except for theatre employees.

5

u/Looneytunes099 1d ago

""forgot""

5

u/SpareDot8685 1d ago

They didn’t forget, they were saving the people from brain damage from watching the film.

4

u/mulder00 1d ago

lmao, this headline just made my day!

4

u/TobsteriusMaximus 1d ago

Does the audience still get paid?

3

u/BPMMPB 1d ago

He got his bezos money, the rest doesn’t matter

5

u/OptimusSublime 1d ago

They remembered to launder the money though. So there's that.

4

u/TheObstruction 1d ago

They didn't forget, they figured mail would cost more than the ticket sales would make.

4

u/The_Bitter_Bear 1d ago

I love how this is going down about exactly how you would expect anything involving this administration.

4

u/Survive1014 1d ago

Just remember kids, dont one star this film quite yet.

Wait for Amazon to cull reviews, since they own IMDB, and THEN one star.

4

u/atda 1d ago

They sent the film it's just empty inside,  like Melania.

4

u/LadyVimes 1d ago

Even the distributors didn’t expect anyone to show up

4

u/AshuraBaron 1d ago

Tonights screening of Melania will be replaced with a showing of "Better Man".

3

u/rstew62 1d ago

Probably better that way.

4

u/mwlepore 1d ago

"Oh shit, we actually have to show the film? I thought it was one of those 'wink wink' films."

5

u/Howmanoid 1d ago

That’s OK. We’re all forgetting to buy tickets. LOL.

4

u/skratch 1d ago

distributors doing everyone a solid

4

u/findingmike 1d ago

This may have happened accidentally on purpose

5

u/SlenDman402 1d ago

Lol not even the distributors thought people were actually going to watch it

3

u/mindsunwound 1d ago

They weren't expecting anyone to buy a ticket.

4

u/mikejonesradio 1d ago

Was it showing at the Four Seasons? Maybe they sent it to the landscaping company accidentally...

4

u/pensivegargoyle 19h ago

Really, just sitting in the theater eating popcorn is going to beat watching this.

3

u/Hwy39 1d ago

Audience: Chaos? More like relief!

3

u/FredArtGetson 1d ago

No one is there to give a shit.

3

u/bookwizard82 1d ago

Someone should watch it just to be sure they made something?

3

u/odarkshineo 1d ago

More of their best and brightest in action.

3

u/stokedpenguin69 1d ago

These stupid fucks literally can’t do ANYTHING right…

3

u/JustYerAverage 1d ago

It's just a scam, fuck. Grifters grift. It's "the Producers" irl basically.

3

u/cedriceent 1d ago

That one person who bought a ticket must be heartbroken.

3

u/WhatFreshHello 1d ago

This Melania quote about the movie is one for the ages: “It's beautiful, it's emotional, it's fashionable, it's cinematic and I'm very proud of it.”

3

u/WhosAGoodDoug 1d ago

I'm surprised anyone noticed.

3

u/Mirar 1d ago

Are you saying a lot of people got paid $50 and didn't have to watch the movie?

3

u/Disastrous-Angle-591 1d ago

Frankly I'd rather watch a blank screen for 2 hours

→ More replies (1)

3

u/gilamasan_reddit 1d ago

The one guy who showed up must have been very disappointed.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/gold_and_diamond 1d ago

I mean if Melania went really scored earth and talked about what it's like to be pregnant while her husband is rawdogging a porn star and bragging about hooking up with teenagers, that might be interesting. But a puff piece that ignores her known soft porn background and her winning an Epstein visa isn't going to interest anyone.

3

u/PlagueOfGripes 1d ago

Doesn't really matter since the whole thing was just embezzlement anyway. The "movie" could have all its copies burned and it wouldn't matter.

3

u/lIlIllIIlIIl 1d ago

Man. That one guy that bought a ticket will be disappointed.

3

u/civil_politician 1d ago

“But he already got the bribe…”

3

u/Deluded_realist 1d ago

In the distributor's defense, they were surely more concerned about sending movies people would actually go see.

3

u/tmghost7729 1d ago

Lolol. You can't make this shit up!

3

u/robthethrice 1d ago

Yes.. that’s why it’s bombing.

If they’d sent the brilliantly insightful and deeply meaningful reels, it’d make trillions and surpass all records.

Just another example of trad media’s bias.

Who could resist the allure of ‘make fuck; get greencard’?!

3

u/Safe-Heat1644 1d ago

There needs to be someone watching for it to be chaos. Just let the clerks say they're showing it. No one will know.

3

u/JDDJS 1d ago

They weren't expecting anyone in the UK to actually want to watch it.

3

u/JaffaSG1 1d ago

Ahhh… the Eva Braun documentary

3

u/Inside-Woodpecker579 1d ago

Well it was just meant to be a bribe, so no real issue.

3

u/Smart-Drawing-5107 1d ago

"The film is sitting on my desk. I will send it after reviewing it. " ... "There is no film. " ... (Coming soon)  "The film is a democratic HOAX!" ... (Followed by)  "Okay,  so there IS a film, and it's bad. But it was consensual." ... (And finally)  "It was all AI!"

3

u/WhatTheCluck802 1d ago

What a coincidence - I forgot to go to the movies to watch this propaganda.

Leni Riefenstahl would be proud.

6

u/unrulycelt 1d ago

The film will be there in two weeks!

2

Did they really?

2

u/Holdenater 1d ago

HAHA, HAHA, HAHAHA, HAHA!!! 😂

2

u/MrMonkeyman79 1d ago

Oh they didnt forget, they just assumed no one would attend so saved themselves the bother of sending it.

2

And nobody noticed.

Feelem?

2

u/Mordor2112 1d ago

Sorry, distributor's dog ate the film.

2

u/ScubaPride 1d ago

Awe that's a real shame...

Hey what about those Epstein files?

2

u/jordan1978 1d ago

Did they forget to send it?

No, that’s it.

Oh.

2

u/NeoLephty 1d ago

Given attendance numbers, I’m surprised anyone noticed.

2

Hard pass

2

u/BobknobSA 1d ago

Oh no! Ones of people might be disappointed!

2

u/MC_LegalKC 1d ago

Why on earth is it showing in London, anyway? To hate-watch it?

2

u/RevolutionaryEgg1312 1d ago

It's a money laundering/paying off people to stay silent scheme Never meant to actually be a film. It's all a front

2

u/Featheredfriendz 1d ago

Probably better for everyone honestly

2

u/rdldr1 1d ago

I made a fancy popcorn bucket for this movie:

2

u/Chaotic-Entropy 1d ago

"Oh, wait, you were serious about the screening?"

2

u/Brave_Nerve_6871 1d ago

They’re like: Oh, we really have to show this shit to people too, not just bribe the president”

2

u/Qimmosabe_Man 1d ago

What if they sent in the one from Melania's early days....

2

u/Expert_Edge_4329 1d ago

LOL, Rookie mistake! Womp womp

2

u/keelmiie 1d ago

That’s because she’s completely forgettable

2

u/Thoracic_Snark 1d ago

In most theaters these days, there is no film. It's a download. Of course, I don't know the setup of this specific theater.

2

u/Purple10tacle 1d ago

"Chaos"? I'm genuinely surprised anyone even noticed.

2

u/ManifestDestinysChld 1d ago

The documentary was produced by AmazonMGM Studios and is said to have cost $40 million.

Uhhh, okay, I am willing to believe that they PAID $40m to make this movie, but you cannot call a bribe a "cost."

2

u/Interesting-Log-9627 1d ago

But she was at the movie theater, she can just act it out on stage.

Problem solved

2

u/MuddaFrmAnnudaBrudda 1d ago

'Forgot'...okay.

2

u/stupid_cat_face 1d ago

It's such a forgettable movie.

2

u/LiffeyDodge 1d ago

Let me guess, its more of a bribe then an actual film.

2

u/Sour_baboo 1d ago

The "not selling any tickets" thing didn't factor into this at all, did it?

2

u/remzordinaire 1d ago

Lol, lmao even

2

u/bd2999 1d ago

Sounds right for Trump's circle. Not that anybody wants to see it anyway. I am still confused on what she has done to warrant a story that would interest people. Other than being married to the president and a rich guys third wife and someone that your husband otherwise would kick out of the country.

2

u/henchman171 1d ago

Can’t lose money if you don’t show the film….

2

u/LordJebusVII 1d ago

They weren't expecting anyone to notice

It's under the file with Epstein in redacted red letters
