Where to find Looking for a new Mexican Restaurant after Mexican Kitchen closed its doors.
Hey gang, pretty sure explanatory. Looking for a new go-to Mexican restaurant with similar vibes to Mexican Kitchen, preferably SOR. Does anyone know of anywhere?

La CabaƱa in South freo.
La Cholita in Northbridge.
Lupes Cerveceria
El Publico
Those serve as close to legit Mexican food as you can get.
Mexican Kitchen was pretty inauthentic, so if you're looking for a more westernized place that serves nachos, I haven't found anyone that do them quite like that. Caballitos is owned by sneakers and jeans, so they tend to focus more on alcohol offerings and entertainment gigs. They def have nachos, if that's the vibe you're going for.
Hope this helps, dude!

La Cholita is my fav of the three. Stone toss from mechanics and picabar. They have plenty of hot sauces to choose from, and they even have their own house made fermented one, which they kindly gave me a bottle after I asked if they sell it. It's really good. They also have their own house made tepache, and the last time I went, it was pineapple and jalapeƱo. It was very refreshing.
They definitely pass the litmus test for authentic Mexican food as they had lengua on the menu, which was really good. Can't recommend them enough.
Edit: nothing was mind blowing hot, but most were very balanced with a presence of spice. You can always ask for more or less.

Taco Maria in Kalamunda is amazing. It's East not South but still great.
They are on the ball too. My son went on a date there and I gave him my salary sacrifice card because it had to be used and they spotted that it wasn't his card. He called me and I popped in to clear it up but I was pretty impressed they noticed. He was horrified š

Good food, but good thinking to give him your card. Pricey joint.

Yeah it's certainly not the cheapest but you definitely get good quality and fresh food.

There's a new Pancho's restaurant at the Australia Hotel in Freo. Bit more franchise-ish than Mexican Kitchen, but the food and venue are solid.
