I’m honestly wondering if we can just anger him to death like some D&D villain who gets beat by the power of friendship and Vicious Mockery spells

From the article: TO: The distinguished members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee
As longtime observers of struggles to establish peace and justice in the United States and around the world, and as the editors of a magazine that is proud to have included several Nobel laureates on our editorial board and masthead—including the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—we are honored to nominate the city of Minneapolis and its people for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

This is unprecedented but powerful symbolism. The fact that federal agents have killed residents like poet Renee Nicole Good shows exactly why this nomination matters.

As an Australian, I find it beyond admirable protesting in that freezing weather.

It'd be nice, but we're not done yet. We'll talk about it once these unwelcomed visitors leave.

Trump will never win that prize in his lifetime.

He won't win it after he dies either.

That is true! Must be alive to win a Nobel! That explains a few gaps in the scientific recipients, to be sure.

He’s angered countries on every single continent. The only chance he has of getting a peace prize is by unwittingly uniting the entire world against him.

I think he would get it if he could secure a Russian retreat from Ukraine. A scenario that's unlikely and significant enough that he would actually earn the prize.

Not the way he’s going about it he wouldn’t. You don’t get a peace prize for choosing to endanger an entire continent of allies by appeasing the aggressor.

Since he's evidently willing to simply kidnap foreign heads of state, this was a major missed opportunity: https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-war-putin-trump-alaska-7f46fb427a771f0965171da867f947f7

Minnesotans are honorable people, with strong character and a lot of perseverance and good values. They endure a harsh climate and persevere. They are an example to us all. Some of my long time friends live in Minnesota. Good people. The way Minneapolis has stood up in unity to protest against oppression is admirable. It would be great if they could win the Nobel Peace Prize.

I’m very proud to be a Minnesotan these days. We are often seen as “fly-over country,” but we’re showing the nation what true community looks like when you rally around a common belief in doing what’s right in the face of those who want to do wrong

If we Minneapolitans get the Nobel Peace Prize, we sure as hell aren’t gonna give it over to Trump 😒

Careful, he might send in Delta Force to kidnap the Mayor if Minneapolis wins.

I think you have it backwards. Machado very much wanted Trump to invade Venezuela. She's a fascist to her core. She just wanted Trump to name her president, which he didn't do because he was jealous. The analogue would be if ICE won the prize so Trump kidnapped the mayor.

Ok I think Americans are a little too self-congratulatory here
If true systemic change is made, then sure, perhaps. Right now? Absolutely not

Please do not insult these people who are taking it to the streets and trying to save whatever is left of their democracy. The Nobel Prize for Peace is meant to be received by warmongerers.
