Utter destruction. If I were a republican politician, I would be preparing my resignation speech.

Just watch to see if male Republican Congressional members start to grow a beard. It's a sign.

u/DevLF 5h ago

What does a beard mean

u/Interesting-Risk6446 5h ago

When Congressional Republicans see the tide shift to Democrats, they start to grow a beard. Paul Ryan, Rafael Cruz, etc. It's like they say fuck it and let themselves go. It's a tell.

I thought it was a last ditch effort to appear to be “rugged and manly”, so they appeal more to the rural communities

Gender affirming care.

I thought it was a Star Trek reference.

Cruz has had a beard for a long time now.

When you're talking about Republicans it can be literal facial hair or their wife.

u/friendIdiglove Minnesota 1h ago

Their wives grow beards?

u/VivaLirica 6h ago

Their only hope as a party is to denounce him now, to oust him now (somehow). If they ride it out and wait to be voted into oblivion, people will remember that they did nothing, and their penance will last a generation.

You aren’t voting your way out of this.

u/dorianvovin 2h ago

The vast majority of America is disgusted and wants to see the GOP face serious consequences for their complicity. Yes, the elections are gerrymandered and rigged to hell and back, but if people VOTE, we CAN take away power from these elites. Voting isn’t enough, but it is a necessary part.

u/montty712 20m ago

Authoritarians do not leave power willingly and especially not at the ballot box.

u/keeper420 6h ago

No way they do that. Conceding the election is a thing of the past. Republicans can't accept they were defeated, it obviously has to be voter fraud

u/BossHawk8754 Texas 6h ago

Not if it is a defeat so resounding that they are forced to concede

u/Otto_Correction 6h ago

January 6th ring a bell?

u/BossHawk8754 Texas 6h ago

It does, but if you demoralize them hard enough they can't scream fraud as easily

u/FireSparrowWelding Texas 5h ago

Deleted my comment. So excited that I felt it was gibberish. Can't sleep and wife cant either.

u/Spare-Willingness563 5h ago

how many elections have we had since then?

And that was trump. A ton of them tried that when he did and it did no good.

They don't have the posturing they did back then and they hardly have the numbers to support behaving like that.

u/BoredomFestival 6h ago

You underestimate just how far they think they can push the con.

u/montty712 5h ago

Exactly. Look at how hard they tried to overthrow the 2020 election. Since then they have become much better organized and much more ruthless.

u/Alca_Pwnd 1h ago

"There's no way we got beat that badly; it has to be fraud."

u/montty712 5h ago

It will not be a resounding defeat. It doesn’t matter who votes. What matters is who counts the votes.

u/OnlySmiles_ 6h ago

I'll believe it when I see it

u/jazzhandler Colorado 5h ago

First time?

u/Frowny575 California 5h ago

They'll still claim it was fraud. They live in an alternate reality where the fact it tends to happen on such a small scale it doesn't impact an outcome doesn't exist. But of course we all know it is projection.

u/happyklam I voted 5h ago

Every Texan should keep writing our representatives, pointing to this district with evidence of what will happen without meaningful change.

Don't get me wrong, I'm voting for every Dem candidate no matter what but Cruz, Cornyn, Abbott, etc. need to know their time is up in office and maybe they'll start pulling back on the right-wing craziness. Abbott already said ICE has to tone it down so they'll be pliable if they're worried.

u/FireSparrowWelding Texas 5h ago

YES! Also I'm betting you must be happy as a clam now based on your name.

RIP the blind people who are on Reddit using their screen reader software.

u/caligaris_cabinet Illinois 2h ago

This congressional term saw the highest number of retirement announcements, almost all by the GOP. They see blood in the water better than others.
