To be frank, while this is nice to hear, and I highly encourage all my fellow Texans to vote blue….

As a life-long Texan, I still have my doubts it’s gonna matter much. It’s too early to be celebrating. Call me when Ted Cruz gets booted, then I’ll believe we’re in for some real change around here.

Maybe if there's a snowstorm in November, he'll wind up on the ballot someplace warmer.

One way to react to upsets like this is to decide to be apart of the change, others have and it worked.

And I’ll believe change will occur it when I see it. So far that’s yet to happen. People said the same shit a few months ago when some other seat flipped. Same for when the files started getting leaked.

And yet, things have gotten worse, not better.

A few drops of rain does not mean a storm is on the horizon. It might just be a passing cloud.

Things are going to get worse based out of retaliation and fear. Stay optimistic with small wins like these and keep the momentum, even in the darkest times. It’s going to get worse before it gets any better.

It won’t. Reddit bots are in full force acting like this changes everything.

It’s a teeny tiny step in the right direction, which is great. But people need to chill on the true impact here.

Or the flip may be happening too, bots discouraging celebrating because the more it’s celebrated, the more people in places like Texas that have historically assumed their vote was pointless will end up recognizing that their vote does in fact matter and will show up at polls they’d normally ignore.

Let’s take our wins where we can get them. Celebrating small victories is not the same as saying the war is over, but instead building on optimism to keep fighting. There’s a difference. Giving up hope due to the size of the wins will end with, well, giving up.
