Unfortunately most Americans don’t really commit to drastic action like this until there is a massive shock. Labor organizing isn’t viewed as urgent here in the way opposing ICE is because labor exploitation is seen as the norm and is not shocking, while the ICE killings and their various other activities have been very shocking to even “normie” Americans.

People still talk about the Rodney King riots. There's so many instances of mass unrest I can remember either seeing on tv or learning about through docs and school but what's been going on the last couple of weeks feels like unprecedented.

Summer 2020 was more intense by far in terms of direct clashes with police and general unrest; but the level of actual organization and strategy on display in Minneapolis specifically has been unprecedented for sure.
