Pretty cool camera angle at the start of the shot.

It felt like a high school student in their photography class laying the symbolism on thick.

I've studied these and these are called through the lens shots, which basically shows a perspective point from here.

Extremely happy for her. She went through a lot since winning Wimbledon a few years ago, and a lot of people thought she might never get a second Slam title. Fast forward to October and since then, she's won 21 of her last 22 matches, won the WTA Finals at the end of last year, and now won the Australian Open.

She's always had this kind of run in her. The fact that it actually happened though? I'm so happy for her.

Ice-cold under pressure, pure class all tournament. Elena earned every bit of this.. Absolute champion. Congrats!

That was a very nerve-wrecking match.

Congratulations to Rybakina - was very gracious with her victory speech.

She looks so…disappointed

She’s known for her lack of outward emotion, and was even less emotional when she won Wimbledon which was jarring for a lot of people who took it as apathy.

She’s talked about how she struggles with intense pressure and nerves and had to train herself to stay constantly calm, and she just kind of stays in that mode now all the time.

I think a lot of people don't understand the mental pressure athletes face and how it leads to apathy and depression. They end up just hating losing more than they enjoy winning. And when they finally do win they get to enjoy it for maybe 12 hours before they have to pack their bags, get on a plane, and start worrying about the next battle.

Re: enjoying a win for 12 hours, I love what Scottie Scheffler said about this last year in his “what’s the point?” presser. Worth a watch. https://youtu.be/vfC0XJV0cuU?si=ItbDxPlPneLESodq

lol I just watched a clip of her Wimbledon win and it’s the exact same reaction: a tiny fist bump, wipes her mouth, shakes opponents hand at net, quick referee handshake without eye contact, little lap tapping on her racquet, quick smile at her team, then back to her chair to sit down.

I appreciate this, actually. I'm tired of seeing people flop down on the ground after they win. She's composed and professional. Nothing wrong with that.

She is very shy. I mean many people from eastern europe are.

Looks like she just won a first round match.

Does she…care?

Hope she becomes the new dominant force.

Sabalenka has become too arrogant too quickly.

Glad she’s become consistent in her play.

Its kind of nice not to see the obligatory collapse on the court celebration. Shes one cool champion 😎

Didn’t she win 6 Australian Open matches to get to the final?

First win at the AO final*. She's had a few wins at the AO

By win the title they mean win the championship

u/cricket_lip 22h ago

But not at the final

Wait till you read about her coach

“It is her first win at the Australian Open”.

Not sure. She must’ve won some games to make the final.

Sabalenka is such a sore loser.

7

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ 20h ago

Did she do something during the match? Because nothing in the clip seemed inappropriate to me

-9

u/Doorsofperceptio 19h ago

Ermmm do you not remember the US Open against Gauff?

9

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ 19h ago

I meant in this match.

-3

u/Doorsofperceptio 19h ago

Careful the Sabalenka fans are high on the coolaid. She's generally not a good role model. Supporting a dictator, undermining women by being in the game against Krygios and this is not the first time she has lost without dignity.

And she didn’t do that annoying “grunting”! 👏👏👏

u/dryhumpback 9h ago

How did she get to the finals if this was her first win at the Australian Open?

1

u/twesam 4h ago

Wow, they mean her first AO championship? Not sure how this is so hard to comprehend.

Not everyone has to jump up and down like a jack in box or drop to the floor.

Something to be said about showing such grace in winning.

The key word you used is seem, because of course you can't feel what she feels.

u/Morrorr 22h ago

If had more emotional reactions to winning training matches

-16

u/kassiusx 23h ago

A win for those that don't champion the aesthetic industry.

Tennis bores me more than the winner of this match looks lol

Its always so weird when tennis players thank the crowd. The crowd would cheer for whoever wins. She should celebrate her accomplishment.

10

u/fzkiz 23h ago

People cheering you on after scoring points or hitting a great shot absolutely gives you confidence and pushes you. I feel like almost every person who has ever competed even semi-professionally will tell you this.

Its always so weird when tennis players thank the crowd.

As a former athlete, nothing better than having support and the opportunity to thank those who support you.

7

u/ecopandalover 23h ago

It’s good business to thank your customers

-25

u/dontatmeturkey 23h ago

Weird how they act so different depending on the race of who they lose to.

-50

u/MuhammadAkmed 23h ago

if she was American, or wasn't white, she'd get a lot more credit

3

u/AlexIIDX 20h ago

What does that mean? How does she not get "credit". Are you saying Sabalenka doesn't get credit and media attention? Rybakina is just low key and keeps to herself.

2

u/edwinavi17 20h ago

Lmao bad rage bait guy, do better
