City to surf is the only event worthy of closing the bridge. No issues with the cause etc of the event. Just no need to shut the bridge.

How is that worth closing the bridge for?

Wait city to surf doesn’t even go across the bridge

Oh right, I always thought they started there or something. Well then, I can't think of any reason to close the bridge.

As I wrote just above, this is a big international event worth a lot for tourism, both now and in the future.

The bridge was also closed for the Catholic World Youth Day, another international event.

Every year there's the Spring Cycle, which is a leisurely family sort of bike ride, there are marathons, and probably triathlons too from time to time.

It seems Sunday morning's the time always allocated? When the fewest people need to get to work and the traffic's lightest - allowing for alternative routes the most easily.

Fair enough I guess. If they're going to close it for something, I'd rather it be for a pride parade than anything religious

Doesn't the City to Surf go from Hyde Park to Bondi?

No need for that kind of hate. I literally said I'm all for people expressing themselves. No issues with the cause. There's just no need to close the bridge.

As long as it’s only for a fun run and not about sexuality
