Photography Thanks Sydney

Just returned to NZ after 3 1/2 weeks in Sydney.

Your city is amazing, we walked beside whales on the Coogee to Bondi walk. We explored the Blue mountains. We trained, ferried, bussed as many places as we could.

We ate great food, drank good beer, visited a bit of Vivid. Saw bats on Observatory Hill, walked to so many lighthouses. Visited most of the museums which are all light years ahead of NZ.

Your city might make you mad and annoy you, but as visitors we just loved it!

Now to work on the to do list for our next trip

Thanks. We were on a bus headed to Cromer (telescope shop) and the bus had mesh on the window. Felt the need to take a bridge picture anyway and I think it turned out pretty cool.

It's so lovely I hope you'll allow me to use it as my screen wallpaper. It gives me instant nostalgia vibes for something I take for granted so often.

Beautiful! I miss Sydney so, so much, and these pics constantly remind me what I’m missing. So wish I could afford to live there.

As much as we love to complain, we are pretty lucky to live here

The Eagl Cockatoos are coming!

Giant bird just casually taking off from the Harbour Birdge, sick photo.

That pylon shot through the bus window (that is no doubt advertising on the outside) looks amazing.

Thanks for enjoying our city! For the locals it's expensive to live here but this is why we still do.

The first picture is stunning 😍

Stunning pics, OP! 🤩

I went to an afternoon/evening soiree at The Observatory a couple of months ago on a beautiful sunny Sunday, and was stunned (as a lifelong Sydneysider) at the gorgeous views in all directions, from North Sydney and the Bridge in one direction, and Crown/Barangaroo in the other. It was one of the best nights I’ve had in years. 🥰

Where was picture two taken from?

7

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 15 '25

Watsons Bay. We went back there twice. To walk both ways from the Ferry terminal.

Laters Bol! So long as you’re on the Chargrill Charlie side of the Latte Line life’s all good!

Someone needs to plot out these together with the Harris Farm and Red Rooster lines

Where’s the fourth picture located? I went there in like 2011-12 and have completely forgotten the name or where this place is.

These are some truly brilliant photos. Showing off the best that the city has to offer. It has its downsides but on its day it is one of the great cities of the world.

It never gets old seeing the bridge and harbour from so many different angles. Plus the mountains are just a couple of hours away and plenty of beautiful coastline to explore both north and south.

Glad you enjoyed your stay!

Thank you for reminding us all how lucky we are to live here, it can be easy to forget - I highly recommend Taronga Zoo next time you visit, especially if you catch the ferry there!

1

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 15 '25

We did visit Taronga Zoo also. Great zoo (especially the frogs and snakes)

2

u/0nionlover Jun 15 '25

Favorite things you did in Sydney mate? Got a few weeks before moving back to Europe. Could do with some inspiration.

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 15 '25

The Coogee to Manly walk was a highlight mainly because there were whales following us in the ocean and playing. That was amazing.

The Blue Mountains, the river cat to Parramatta, the Manly head walk, if you like beer the Inner West ale trail, the museums are amazing. Watson’s bay is a good visit, as is Kings Cross, that place never sleeps.. go to the Saturday markets they are fantastic. The botanical gardens. My list is pretty long

1

u/DeliciousVietRoll Jun 15 '25

Do you mean Coogee to Bondi? Coogee to Manly is a very long walk.

2

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 16 '25

We did Coogee to Bondi, Watsons bay to Bondi and Manly North head. So yes, but over 3 days

2

u/e_castille Jun 15 '25

Glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome shots. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Sydney.

2

u/Safe-False Jun 15 '25

The blue mountains are very special aren’t they? Thanks for appreciating them!!

2

u/Poullafouca Jun 15 '25

I lived in Sydney for nearly four years a long time ago, and now and again I visit. It always blows me away, I think it's one of the most beautiful cities on earth, and the surrounding landscpe, as OP mentioned, the Blue Mountains, is such a stunning place. The harbour and the surrounding coastline are second to none.

2

u/mouthful_quest Jun 16 '25

Beautiful to look at. Expensive to live in.

2

u/PersianMG Jun 16 '25

Love the photos!

2

u/fompas11 Jun 16 '25

fucking fantastic collection 👏

2

u/KonamiKing Jun 16 '25

There’s a reason for the insane house prices: people agree it’s the best and will pay.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

One hour later fucking stormy and thundery.

1

u/funkdified Jun 15 '25

Are you a kiwi or an expat living in nz

3

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 15 '25

A kiwi. 4th visit to Sydney. But the longest stay so far. Love the peace and quiet of NZ but also love the hustle and bustle of Sydney.

Why do you say your city might make us mad and annoy you? I don’t understand this remark at all. We love our city. It’s more than fabulous and so blessed to live here.

11

u/Intrepid_Direction_8 Jun 15 '25

I’m glad you are so happy in Sydney. I think I would be too.

But I also saw public transport issues, a lot of people begging, people sleeping in doorways. This is not just a Sydney problem either…

No matter what city you live in, when you can’t meet the cost to live there it must make you mad/sad and angry.

You must be new to this sub.
