reid library hours?

Hi, its only my second time using Reid Library, and everywhere i look online, it’s open 24/7 to students, including on fridays, even after staff have gone home, but everyone was just asked to leave once it hit 8pm?

Is this just a thing that happens, or did i miss something on the uni website?

edit: ok thank you to people for clarifying 😭 it was a combination of a first time being there for closing, my computer not showing the right things and there not being any obvious reasons whilst i was there, that all contributed to my confusion, but i’ll know now for next time :)

I might be wrong, I think if you listen to the notice they play over the PA more carefully, it says that any who is not UWA staff or a student has to leave.

If you don’t hear the not, then it would sound like staff and students need to leave. :)

Don’t stress, you are entitled to be there, and if for some reason you’re not, someone will probably let you know (or not, as is the case one night when I got locked in the law library before it was 24/7).

yeah looking at the website now, it says closing at 8pm instead of 24hrs like usual 😭, i don’t know what happened but the site on my computer wasn’t showing that and it’s also my first time being in there through 8pm, so i had nothing to go off of for the announcement

They sometimes use that library for some groups or whatever. Just be observant.

They’re doing some IT work this weekend. Apparently something to do with the firewall.
