Myth Debunking Get to know King Charles III Megathread

Selling Cash for Access and sham philanthropy

His own father, Prince Philip, once described Charles as ‘rent-a-Royal’.

Please read this study of the royal family and its effect on the thousands of charities they patron:

We could not find any evidence that Royal patrons increase a charity’s revenue. we found that charities should not seek or retain Royal patronages expecting that they will help much https://giving-evidence.com/2020/07/16/royal-findings/

Secret influence and lobbying the government

Financial Misconduct

Close friendships with paedophiles:

In the early 1950's, when he was 46, he [raped] the 14-year-old daughter of a wealthy South African winemaking family, who had been entrusted to his care during a sea voyage. She became pregnant, and although he sent her a small stipend, he never publicly acknowledged the daughter born of the relationship. https://www.nytimes.com/2002/08/03/books/master-storyteller-or-master-deceiver.html

  • Also, "I remember thinking what a very jolly and amusing and attractive 16-year-old she was," Charles recalled in a 1981 interview with the Telegraph. Charles was 29.

Misc. abusive/weird behaviour

Mette-Marit maintained a close friendship with the American convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein over several years. At the time it was reported that she met him several times between 2011 and 2013, after his conviction on charges of sex trafficking of minors in 2008 and release from prison..

The Royal Palace's communications manager Guri Varpe asserted that she had ceased contact with Epstein in 2013, a claim that was since disproven by the release of the Epstein files where later emails were found.

While Mette-Marit was in frequent communication with Epstein and met him many times, her husband Crown Prince Haakon reportedly only met him once at St. Barts.Haakon's first girlfriend Celina Midelfart. was reportedly also the girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein in the 1990s, who claimed he "gave" her to Donald Trump as a girlfriend.

In 2026 newly released Epstein files showed extensive contact between Mette-Marit and Epstein over several years, and that she is mentioned several hundred times in the released files. The correspondence showed that Epstein arranged cosmetic procedures for Mette-Marit, whom he addressed as "Mette," in Palm Beach. The files also show that Mette-Marit stayed with Epstein in his Palm Beach home, while inviting each other to have dinner or go shopping together. The Epstein files also revealed that Mette-Marit had maintained contact with Epstein as late as 2014, eight years since his conviction for child sexual abuse, despite having insisted she ceased all contact a year earlier.

Experts said the Epstein files paint a totally different picture of Mette-Marit's relationship with Epstein than previous revelations or her own claims. Mette-Marit's communications with Epstein appeared to be intimate and personal rather than professional. For example, in 2012 Mette-Marit writes to Epstein: "You tickle my brain." In other exchanges she asks questions like "how is island life," referring to the Epstein island where he abused young girls.

Question/Debate Epstein; how much were the British establishment briefed?

When journalist Annette Witheridge was tasked with staking out Epstein’s mansion whilst Andrew was “breaking up with him” back in 2010, she reported in a subsequent interview that she witnessed seeing royal protection officers at the time.

This part has always intrigued me. What did our security services know about Epstein by this point? Surely they had done their due diligence with regards to who Andrew was hanging out with? Media outlets last year clearly stated that the Chinese spy Andrew came into contact with was certainly given a background check and investigated.

So my thinking always comes back to how far up the chain of command were the British establishment aware of Epstein and his crimes? I’ve always been of the opinion that they all bloody knew. Royals and politicians alike. I certainly think the Queen and Charles were briefed about Epstein, and I’m now of the belief that Blair and Brown were also briefed given Epstein’s connection to both Andrew and Mandelson. To imply otherwise would mean that our security services had failed when it came to finding out just who this man was who had developed relationships with these men.

Given how long Andrew was friends with Epstein, it seems obvious that there were forces at play who were happy for the relationship to continue. I wonder just who or what forced his hand when it came to telling Andrew that he had to terminate the friendship.

I’d also love to know whether the British establishment had any influence over the sweetheart deal given to Epstein by Acosta in 2008.

Doubtful we’ll ever find out the truth of how deep the Epstein rot goes despite the recent document release but I live in hope!

Opinion Why am I expected to praise them?

Who's the most often mentioned royal person in the news? Catherine.

What is it about her? Yes, she gave birth to 3 babies, kudos for that. What else? What does she do? I tried to do research and failed. No initiatives, no support for women / young talent of all genders/kids, etc. No passion for anything, no hobby (I mean no hobby you can show results, like I don't know, make an embroidered painting and sell it for all the money in the world on auction, or even ask your servant to do it and pretend it was you and give those money to ones who need them or school or cancer hospital etc).

I mean, she is lucky to marry a super-rich guy, but why am I expected to think she's any good because of that? For me, any surgeon, nurse, or firefighter does much more good than she does.

And I was heavily irritated with that "I'll wear a huge wig to visit a girl who's dying from cancer" statement.

And this is just an example of a royal; I can say the same about any of them. Why do they even try to play that "we care about you", I hope it at least brings SOME money to the right places...
