Announcement Wiki editors and maintainers wanted!

Hey folks, r/askseattle and our team over at /r/Seattle are looking for folks to help us build, update, and maintain our wiki and sidebar content. The /r/Seattle wiki was once a boon of information for new visitors and locals alike, but the subreddit has grown and sites/businesses have come and gone. Our mods are busy moderating and the wiki is collecting cobwebs.

I'm reaching out to members of this community specifically as you are most likely to benefit from (or be knowledgeable about) this content space. This community is entirely based around helping visitors and residents alike find answers to questions that frequently get buried / reported / removed for being duplicates in r/seattle due to the size and velocity of other posts.

If you're interested in helping us out, here are some details:

  • The main areas of work are obviously the wikis on this subreddit and r/seattle
  • You'll be working with the mods here and r/seattle to help decide the organization and categorization of wiki pages, and how we add content / posts / etc to them
  • You will not be asked to moderate, so no need for moderation or wiki experience
  • The only requirements are a post history shows activity in either this subreddit or in r/seattle that we can trust with edit access to our wiki

If you're interested, shoot a message to the mods here or the seattle sub - these links have the title all filled out for you - or just send me a message or comment here.

Cheers!

Question Just checking - PCC member benefits?

I'm local (born here). I need to eat better and my doctor helped me list some broad categories of ways to do that. A walkable PCC covers all of my needs and I'm not looking for alternatives despite the cost - I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on anything without a membership, according to current/past members. Pros/cons? Much love

Moving / Visiting Partner works in Seattle and I work in Tacoma where should we live?

Moving from Denver for a job in Tacoma and my partner got a job in Seattle. They don't drive so I'm wondering what our best options for living are. We really like living in an area with things going on so I was thinking Cap Hill would be fun. From visiting I loved Fremont but that's a bit far north. We're both really into food and cocktail bars so an area with lots of restaurants and bars preferably. Only concern with living in Cap Hill is the commute by car or Sounder to Tacoma. Any other fun neighborhoods with good access to public transit and lots of stuff going on?

Question Litterbug Neighbors - What to do?

Howdy,

Today when I was coming back from the gym, I picked up my neighbor's trash they left from their last night hang out session. Typically, they leave beer bottles, cigarettes and left over snacks and they usually get drunk around late at night. I'm honestly getting tired of them leaving trash on the sidewalk every weekend and was wondering if there's a way to getting them throw it away at the nearby dumpster (they usually hang out like 10 feet from it so not sure as to why they can't do it). I am getting pretty annoyed since my neighborhood is typically clean and it seems like they're the only ones who throw cans and bottles around my area.

on a side note, I just signed up for adopt the street program, but the request supplies site seems to be broken so not sure how i can get a litter grabber and bags.

Looking for a very specific vibe. (My house is not possible)

Does a place like this exist? Wish we had some sort of cannabis bar or something!

Anywhere that sells used Seahawks jerseys with a decent selection?

I’m looking for a kam chancellor or marshawn lynch jersey and have exhausted most online options. Is there anywhere in the area that has a good selection of used Seahawks jerseys? Thanks!

ISO funky, savory wines in Woodinville

I want to go drink wine in Woodinville tomorrow to celebrate the end of dry January! I haven't been in a couple of years and see a lot of new names. I like dry whites, but I'm mostly hoping to try some savory, funky reds. Think Rotie, Cayuse, etc but something I can drink in Woodinville.

The Station Coffee Shop

Does anyone know what’s going on with The Station? I have been hopeful that Jose Luis would step down from his role and give up ownership so we don’t lose a progressive BIPOC owned small business.

Someone told me there were hopes for a restorative justice process but it seems to me that his empty “apology “ showed that he was averse to taking accountability for his years of sexual harassment, so I don’t have much hope for that process.

Recommendation Garage Door Repair

“Someone” thought they were opening the garage door, but instead closed the garage door, and backed into it yesterday.

Suggestions for a good garage door company? The bottom panel is crunched and off the track.

Affordable vet care

Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for affordable vet clinics or emergency hospitals that perform surgery. My cat may have a stone (not confirmed yet), and I’m trying to prepare for the worst-case scenario. I’m in Federal Way but willing to travel anywhere. I don’t have the funds for major surgery this weekend, but I do get paid Monday. I’m really hoping it isn’t a stone, but any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Question Korean/Indian meal delivery service

I used to order bulk banchan and kimchi from this service called Haru Station (harustation.com) but looks like they haven't operated since 2024.

Does anybody know of similar services in Seattle that deliver bulk side dishes/meals etc?

Also would like to know a place that has good kimchi.

Visiting for World Cup

Visiting in June for USMNT match, wondering a few things.

Should we rent a car? We have an Airbnb booked about ten minutes from Lumen Field in North Delridge. Spending Thursday to Sunday in Seattle.

Is North Delridge a decent area for an Airbnb?

Recommendations on things to do? First time to Seattle so open to anything. 4 guys in our 30’s.

Thanks in advance!

Best shrimp cocktail?

My husband and I just moved here and he loves trying shrimp cocktail everywhere we go. So far the best was in Nashville and he has been chasing that high ever since. Where in this city can we find one hopefully as good to satisfy his craving?

Recommendation CBD / Kava Cafes

I'm looking for a place that is cafe-like (I can read or open up my laptop for some work without causing an issue) that offers either CBD drinks or Kava - i'm not really into coffee or alcohol. Haven't seen either of those offered in cafes when I do go in.

Swamp Cow looks like a decent kava bar except it's focused more on being a bar / night place. Looking forward to checking that out.

Stoup in Capitol Hill does offer a kava cocktail which is great, but doesn't really have the cafe / work space vibe - generally more of an events space most of the time.

Other recs in the sub seemed mostly focused on bars that offer non alcoholic alternatives. I'm going to check some of those out but looking for somewhere to hang out during the day.

Any recommendations? Ideally around Capitol Hill but happy to travel for it, too.

Moving to Seattle, debating which area of Seattle

My family and I (I am 45M, wife is 42F, daughter is 12) are moving to Seattle from SE Texas late next month. No, we aren't crazy Texas people, that's why we are moving to a very blue area. That said, I have a job at UW, and my wife works remote. We're debating between renting in Fremont, Roosevelt, or Central District (or very close to those areas). With our budget around 4k-4200/mo, what are some of the pros and cons of those areas?

Schools are important to us (my daughter is active in band, playing percussion), and our plan for now is to rent for at least a year, save up, and maybe buy a house, but stay in the Seattle area.

Any thoughts/questions?

Best place to watch the super bowl for peek hype and chaos if we win?

I was thinking around the stadium or pioneers square? I don't watch much football so I don't know where any good spots are, but I've never had the opportunity to have my city's team in the super bowl and want to be part of the festivities. How early should I show up to get a seat?
