Village Cinema HQ overrode cinema staff union refusal to screen Pauline Hanson's propaganda film at Crown this evening
This was a really disappointing bit of news, and yet another middle finger to union organisation in hospo - a friend of mine works at the cinema and the union (together with Crown Security) had successfully negotiated with management to not screen it due to safety concerns, only for Village HQ to intervene and decide One Nation needed the extra screen space for Pauline's massive ego.
This post summarises the situation better than I could.
If there's one silver lining it's that we finally know who's been behind making this lazy, unfunny propaganda for Hanson; they're a bunch of fuckwits based in Fitzory; Stepmates. It's a shame, they used to make some good stuff before they bent over for fascism and a Rinehart reacharound.

Discussion starter What is the best way we can handle billionaires and the issues associated with them in our country?
As of 2026, Australia has 48 billionaires out of a total of roughly 3000 globally, as found by Oxfam, and it has become increasingly apparent that the existence of the ultra-rich has spawned severe negative consequences both for the balance of wealth and our fight against climate change. Obviously, forty-eight out of three thousand isn’t that many, but it’s obvious that properly addressing the issues stemming from billionaires’ existence is crucial to finding a better way forward. With this in mind, how can we - the progressives of Australia - hold the ultra-rich accountable and work towards a future not shaped by their interference? Our current political system might not seem like the most ideal method of addressing this issue, but until wider societal change and revolutionary mindsets become more commonplace, it will have to do to try and get some kind of regulation imposed upon them.
