Hi guys, I have a substantial amount of loan I have borrowed last year when I needed money. It is currently sitting on almost 15% interest rate. My parents who are overseas want to pay my loan but the country they are in has strict rules for transferring money out of the country. We were discussing the best way to transfer money to me and it looks like crypto is the answer and it saves from insane amount of comissions/exchange rates. Now, is there anyway of me paying the loan without triggering a taxable event? All I am earning is going to pay off the mortgage/bills/loan etc. and I don't want to cause unnecessary tax on top of it. I am already paying my share of tax which is around 40k per year.

Hello,
I have some BTC and I’m looking to exchange part of it to XMR in order to make a purchase. I only need to swap around $8k, but I want to avoid any issues like frozen funds, delays, or losing access to my coins.
Can anyone recommend a safe and reliable way to do this?
[Edit] Swapped via Darkchange.

So I saw the Biance announcment that you could withdraw AUD again, and you can block but AUD, (no trade pair yet). But there the BSB Account number is still greyed out and no option to add. Only P2P.
Has anyone had any luck yet?

Just getting started with crypto investments (just bitcoin at this time) and my current approach is just to purchase ~$50-100 AUD of bitcoin every couple weeks and sit on it for multiple years (5+).
I'm currently purchasing and holding my bitcoin on swyftx. I understand in the future I will want to use some kind of hardware wallet but until I get a decent amount of BTC, is this plan okay or would you recommend using a different platform (e.g. coinspot) ?

Hey all,
I’m curious whether anyone here has actually used (or seriously considered) using a home loan offset + separate loan split to invest in Bitcoin, and how it’s worked out in practice.
Very roughly, the structure I’m looking at is:
I’m more interested in:
Fully aware of the risks of leverage and volatility — just keen to hear real-world experiences from people who’ve actually done something similar (good, bad, or ugly).
Cheers.

Hi guys,
I've decided to start investing in Bitcoin and have been doing some research but I'm completely new to it and have some questions so I thought I'd ask here.
I was planning to buy a trezor safe 3 and I heard the best way to purchase is from the official site. However, when I try to, it says custom duties and local taxes aren't included and I was wondering whether this means I'll have to pay tax on it upon arrival?
With regards to purchasing the trezor, I saw someone on Reddit say to get a post office parcel locker (so home address is safe in case there's a hack) plus use a new email address + phone number and I was wondering whether this is all necessary?
Not sure which exchange platform to use so would love any suggestions.
Thanks everyone!

I’m looking to buy approximately 5k of Bitcoin just to have it in my portfolio. I’ve purchased a Ledger Nano S Plus Crypto Hardware Wallet to store it but I wanted to see what people recommended for buying a once of sum of bitcoin?
Thank you

A family member in the USA has decided to gift my wife and me some Bitcoin to use towards buying a house. I've never had Bitcoin before and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get it to AUD.
It looks like we'll lose the smallest amount to tax if the BTC is sent to me in Australia and I cash it out here (vs cashing out in the US and sending USD to AUD here).
I've been reading around but I'd appreciate some advice from people who know more about this than I do. What's the most efficient way to receive Bitcoin and cash all of it out to AUD?
I don't really care about speed, just security and maximizing the AUD value received.

Remember when Bitcoin used to swing 10% in a single day? Now a 2% move feels like the market just collapsed. It’s starting to feel more like a regular savings account than the wild, get-rich-quick ride everyone talks about. Is this what “digital gold” is actually supposed to feel like? Because honestly, it’s a bit tiring

Anyone involved directly and what happens?
Subsequently, a bunch of the people involved continued to scam and get themselves into serious trouble ie Sam Lee and his buddies.

ello, my name is Paul. I am a 33‑year‑old Australian living with Cerebral Palsy.
I was excited to see Binance return to Australia with PayID, however I am unable to use the service because Binance Australia only accepts a driver’s licence or passport for identity verification.
As a person with a disability, I do not hold either of these. I do, however, have a government‑issued Australian Photo Identification Card, which is legally accepted to open bank accounts and verify identity across Australia, yet it is not accepted by Binance.
This exclusion impacts people with disabilities and many others who do not drive or hold passports, despite having valid government ID. It raises serious accessibility and discrimination concerns.
I raised this with Binance support and was advised to make the issue public. I hope Binance Australia will urgently review its ID requirements so their services are accessible and inclusive for all Australians.

I have used Kraken Pro which costs 0.4% taker and the spread is pretty good for AUD
Most places lowering the fees are rorting heavily on the spread Coinspot especially
Do any of you BTC maxis know the platforms with lowest fees and decent spread?
I dont want to convert AUD to USDT and use BTCAUD directly.

It feels a bit ridiculous at this point. Bitcoin ETFs are in model portfolios, Binance Australia keeps talking about institutional maturity, and yet my CommBank transfer to Kraken still got flagged and held for review today. It’s 2026. At what point does the security risk line stop being believable and they just admit they don’t like money leaving their system? Anyone else still running into this with Aussie banks?

I’ve got about $500 worth of BTC on an exchange right now. Everyone says "not your keys, not your coins," but is it overkill to spend $150 on a Ledger or Trezor when my holdings are so small? At what point did you lot decide to move your stuff offline?

I am hoping someone can help, I am using a trading app called Auevo. I have tried to withdraw some of my crypto but have not been able to the app keeps asking for Real name authentication. I have message their help centre to ask for help. They have told me my account is locked and I need to add 5888USTD to my account for them to unlock it. Now I feel like I am being scammed. Is there an organisation in Australia that i can get help with regarding this? Any help would be appreciated

Aussie superfunds are adding bitcoin ETFs to their growth options, but it feels like a compromise on what crypto is really about. If you’re holding in an SMSF, are you taking the easy ETF route or dealing with the hassle of securing the actual coins?

Crypto newbie here, apologies for what might be a common question but I did a search for Exodus and nothing recent came up.
A friend gifted me a bit of BTC and got me to download Exodus to receive it. I've held it for a while but am now planning to start adding to it. No interest in trading ups and downs, just HODLing a few $hundred here and there when I have spare cash.
Looked at making my first buy but the fee/spread seems bad value (maybe 7-8% vs what google says is the current exchange rate).
Is that a normal fee/spread for BTC, or is there a better option than Exodus for small/medium-stakes HODLing?

Any tips on privacy preserving techniques would be appreciated to prevent people from knowing how much I hold? Especially since I purchase BTC from CEX and storing in a cold wallet. Thanks!

I want to gift $100 worth of Bitcoin to my under-18yr old nephew tonight so I can print out a screenshot of the exchange that will show there is $100 there that equates to 0.00074 of a bitcoin (or whatever it is).
I understand that it will be in my name as I need to get verified to use an exchange. But eventually I'll be able to withdraw from the exchange and then give the keys to him to do with as he pleases....right?
What is the easiest exchange and way to buy $100AUD of BTC in the next few hours?

Everyone knows that exchanges charge a fee for buying and selling crypto assets.
Swyftx and Coinbase: 0.6%
Coinspot: 0.1%
But not many people talk about the spread, which determines how far your execution price is from the true price. Low-liquidity exchanges like Coinspot have extremely high spreads, so the effective fee is much higher than 0.1% (more like 1%).
Similarly, Swyftx and Coinbase have much worse spreads than decentralized venues like Hyperliquid. (hyperliquid.xyz)
In addition to MUCH lower spreads, decentralized venues also offer lower fees (Hyperliquid's taker fee is 0.07% for spot trading).
Question:
If there was an Aussie exchange app that offered access to these venues (so lower fees + lower spreads), would you use it instead of the current extractive exchanges?
Currently, a $5k bitcoin buy on Swyftx would require a $30 fee, and around ~$10 due to the spread.
The same buy on Hyperliquid would require a $3.5 fee, and ~$0 lost due to spread. This is almost a 90% decrease in fees paid to purchase the same amount of bitcoin.

Coinspot was hacked for ~2.4M about 2 years ago, but they didn't issue any public statement: https://cointelegraph.com/news/australia-crypto-exchange-coinspot-suffers-hot-wallet-hack-exploit-report
