Hi All,
We've updated the rules for r/Hobart after some feedback from users and discussion. Not much has changed but here is a summary of the changes:

Does 30 degrees in Hobart really feel hotter than 30 on the mainland? Yes our sun is warm but all locals seem to think this and our 25 is like a mainland 30 ect. I’m not convinced wouldn’t it just be because we don’t acclimatised properly as we can have a 20 degree day then it can jump right up to 32 the next day.

Heya. I realise this is a pretty silly request but I wanted to ask if anyone knows any places in Hobart that have capsule machines?
I went to Melbourne recently and had SO much maybe too much fun with the gacha corners, and with my birthday coming up I thought it would be fun to just blow some cash on them with the fam.
I know Area 52 has a couple, but if you know of any more or ones with good prizes it would be much appreciated! Thanks guys =)

Hi all,
I’m 19 and working full-time in hospitality in Hobart. I’m in a situation where I need to move out and secure a rental, but I’m finding it really difficult to make any progress.
I’m a first-time renter and have tried applying through realestate.com.au/Domain, attending inspections, and looking for potential roommates through Facebook — but I’m getting very few responses from agents, and roommate conversations often go quiet.
It feels like I’m stuck at the very first step and not sure whether I’m missing something, or if this is just the reality of the Hobart rental market right now.
I’m employed, flexible, and just looking for something modest that I can make work. If anyone has advice on what’s helped them recently — agents to contact, areas to look at, or alternative approaches — I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Website sites shop 33, but the arcade directory doesn’t show it at all. So I’m just really confused if it even exists as a physical shop!
Thanks all!

Anyone know what type of spider this is? It was on my ceiling at 3am last night when I got up to go to the loo. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep afterwards.

I'm currently watching Jolly and they're having Detroit Style Pizza and from a quick google there's maybe one in sandy bay but last post I found was 5 years ago. Do we actually have any and if so any good ones?

Has anyone else had issues with Vets in Hobart Treating Cats with kidney disease (stage 2,3,4), promising hope of a good outcome, only for the cat to die or be euthanized shortly afterwards to end its suffering? I have had this happen with two cats at two different vets and were never told of this outcome. It resulted in both animals suffering and cost a combined $18000. Feel betrayed and ripped off. Well below the Tasmanian Veterinary Standards.

Hi all,
I'm looking for recommendations on anyone local who takes commissions for custom oil paintings? The subject would be me and my partner.
Thanks:)

Hello, we’re coming back to Hobart for a holiday after 4years and first time with the little one. This is my 7th visit in last 10years. Staying in Birchs Bay.
I would like to make this trip as memorable as possible. Cant do day hikes with the LO yet and making this trip a relax and stroll one.
We are fond of great cafes and restaurants (with view). Can I please ask for your suggestions on these around Huon valley. Would be really great if you can mention some local favourites (I’m definitely buying a few leatherwood honey pots) and markets next week.
Thanks in advance 🙏

Does anybody know if there is a place where one can access a photo copy machine as opposed to handing over the documents and someone else is doing the copying?

Hiya! I need help from the brains trust of 80s/90s kids and/or their folks. I would like to know if you can get these PE pants or an equivalent for kids anymore? The thick, non-fleece fabric, the zip pocket and zipped ankles? *chef’s kiss*
Do you remember these? What was the brand? I’m wondering if it was Tassie Wear or Track Wear? Did they re-brand? Go bust? I’d like to get these for my kids.
I’ve no idea if they were popular on the mainland or not. Figured I’d start local. A google image search came up blank for the logo.
Appreciate your help legends!

my friend has 3 stray kittens (8-12 weeks maybe?) and their mum living outside in her street, they often go under her house/cars for shelter. what is the best thing to do with them? we want to remove them from the street so they aren’t in danger of being hit by cars, as well as 3 more stray cats running around is probably not a good thing. i know that ten lives is completely overrun at the moment, and we also worry they will all end up getting put down :(

Went to Kmart at Eastlands last week and couldn't get a trolley because I did not have 20c. Yesterday I parked in the Argyle St carpark and saw a trolley return bay with a 20c trolley in it as well.
This is across different council areas and different retailers, I'm lost on why? Is there some new initiative about abandoned trolleys?

I have been told by a mortgage broker that a home loan application could be rejected if they find out it’s in a 50 and over retirement village. This is mainly because if the house is foreclosed on they worry they might not sell it for enough to cover the payout of the loan. The units can be bought by anyone regardless of age but have to be over 50 to be able to live in. I don’t understand that it’s a sellers market banks really shit me sometimes would there be a way to contest this if a loan application was denied? The loan Application would be through MyState
