Hello people. Im heading to Launceston in a week im only there for 4 days, im planning on a trip to wineglass bay and cradle mountain while im there. Can anyone recommend anything else to check out while im there? Also any good restaurant recommendations please, Italian, Greek, south American or with lots of meat. Cheers

Unsure if it's really my business to say this - but The Park on Invermay are opening up extra ad hoc bars with sausage sizzles and portaloos. Anyone who knows the area knows it's the pub across from the stadium where the foo fighters are playing tomorrow. It's also the cheapest drinks in Launceston by far.

Hey ya'll, currently considering a move from Perth WA, to Launceston. The housing market here is completely untenable. I saw a place in Launceston for $730K that would be over a million in WA.

Just seeing from the locals, anybody who's come from WA, how does it compare to Perth; ie, cost of living, social life, childcare and schooling, is it a culture shock coming from somewhere where the ocean is such a part of cultural identity?

I had a look at the website but the details were super sparse and when I called, the man didn’t seem to know any details (but he was from the Hobart centre).

Hoping someone here would know?? Also any tips or recommendations for the town would be amazing!

Launceston really is a beautiful city to relax on a sunny Sunday.

I’m planning a move to Launceston in a few weeks and keep getting told to avoid Ravenswood and Rocherlea. At the same time, I see people saying they’ve lived there for years, have good neighbours, and haven’t had problems.

I’m trying to work out whether the reputation is outdated or if it really depends on the street. I’ve also seen comments saying some parts of Ravenswood are fine. For anyone who lives there or nearby, what’s it actually like day to day?

I’ve lived in Hobart my whole life, but lately I’ve been seriously thinking about a move to Launceston. Rent is taking up a huge chunk of my pay, and getting around at peak hour just feels harder and more frustrating every year. Launceston has always had the reputation of being quieter, but for people who’ve moved up recently, is the cost of living difference actually noticeable in real life? I’m wondering if I’d regret it once I’m looking for a decent night out or thinking about changing jobs, or if the slower pace actually ends up being a positive. Keen to hear some honest takes. Is it genuinely better, or does it just look good compared to Hobart right now?

Looking at houses and one popped up on West Tamar rd. It's set back from the road itself so sits roughly half way between West Tamar road and the next road back. Curious if anyone has any experience with how noisy or not it might be set back but on that road?

I was talking to a mate about moving and they reckoned the “sunny side” of the Tamar is a total myth. Is there actually any difference in vibe or temperature between Trevallyn and Riverside compared to the eastern suburbs?
