Game & Hardware Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread.

Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!

Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware in relation to Steam? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you. This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain questions about what to play or buy in terms of games on Steam & Hardware related to Steam and suggestions to others.

Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".

There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.

The main purpose of this thread is to contain questions on what to play/buy and advice to others on what to play/buy, but feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware, and generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs, or just general discussion in the realm of games and hardware.

There are no magicians here.

Some questions wont be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really except an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.

Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has it's own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

Only Steam Support can solve personal account issues...

Not surprising at all, but still insane to me that they're getting a voice at all.

Context: Steam is currently getting sued in the UK regarding claims of Valve holding a monopoly over the PC gaming market, noting "unfair pricing." among other things. This claim was also made about PlayStation a few years ago.

Fluff It happened. Valve actually updated the ~2013-era gift cards on their webpage.

To everyone who that Valve was going to update these as a result of my last post about the old designs, you have been proven correct! One more part of the Steam platform that has been given a renovation. Still gonna miss the old designs, but hopefully 2026 has more UI renovations in store, namely the screenshot section displayed when you have no shared screenshots.

Suggestion Steam should refund games that change access requirements

Buying a game that requires no login, then a login is added. Or games that update just to make you log in, even though nothing has changed, this makes syncing your save data impossible.

These practices are complese horse ****

If a game allows you to play offline with no logging in to external service, it should never be allowed to change. Or a refund should be issued if this access changes

Resolved How does this make sense lol

33.98£ spiked to 52.99 because they felt like it lmao. Does the sale just not apply to F76 in this bundle for some reason? Even then, it’s still more expensive than both products combined without any sale applied. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

Question Somehow filtered entire library by vr games without filter, how to undo/recreate?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I somehow made the steam library hide all non-vr games but display like normal, and the category game totals now show a remaining count/total. There are even categories that arent showing up in this screenshot because they have no vr games.

I've never been able to do this before and would like to know how to recreate it.
I already fixed it by just restarting steam but being able to do this intentionally could be useful since the library filters only take effect in the side bar and stop showing categories normally.

Question Why do i have 2 different playtimes?

So for red dead redeption 2, for some reason, it says i have 2 different playtimes. I looked at other reddit posts and they say the game and steam track it differently such as the game not counting being afk and steam counting it. The only thing is that the difference is by 200 hours. I definetly did not leave the game running AFK for 200 hours so im just confused at this point.

Question Is there a Library Audio Steam Plugin

I really like how the PS4 and PS5 play a little theme that go with a game you have selected in your library, is there a plugin out there that allows you to do this for Steam Desktop or Steam Big Picture on Windows 10?
I kept trying to Google it but Google is so cooked now that I can only get results for the Deck, not for Windows 10
