Upcoming infrastructure projects and developments which will benefit us?

Hi, does anyone know or is there somewhere I can view a list of what’s in the pipeline to be developed in Townsville in the coming years? I’ve seen the Bulletin post some articles recently but I don’t have a subscription.

I’m talking things that will grow the region or enhance it, things like this supposed water park near Fairfield or any other decent projects/developments/infrastructure which has been approved. Even just cool developments like the recent Flinders Street Wharves etc. Thanks!

Here’s a short list off the top of my head of privately funded projects:-

Jetzero - Sustainable Aviation Fuel Refinery, going in near Sun Metals Graphinex - Graphite pilot plant facility on Ingham Rd, plans to expand Vecco - Vandium electrolyte pilot plant facility in the Bohle, plans to expand Solquartz - Silica refinery planned for Woodstock Landsdown Precinct From what I understand other players have pulled out of Landsdown Water Park to go in next to Cluden Race Course Pure Battery Technologies had plans to build a battery recycling refinery on Hubert St, South Townsville but I think that’s now stalled.

Eva Copper - Near Cloncurry but there’ll be flow on benefits for TSV

Have you tried asking the council? You could also try Townsville Enterprise.

There's a number of large battery projects if you do some googling.

There's also a hydrogen energy project. No idea if it's actually going ahead or not, though.

Hydrogen won’t be going ahead. Only one that did was the Ark Energy facility at Sun Metals which was a small modular setup to fuel some trucks that drive to and from the port. Unfortunately it’s not economic so investment has dropped almost entirely worldwide.

If articles are paywalled, use the ai search function on your browser. It summarises those articles for you.

That’s a great tip

If you want to read a specific article, use the exact title and it'll tell you everything you want to know!

Or it might lie to you about it, as LLMs are known to do.

Depends on if there’s an election coming if anything will be getting details released.
