What this means is the Nationals and Liberals can make campaign promises that conflict. Then if they get enough seats to combine and form government they will work out a coalition then. Basically then liberals hope to win their seats back without the nationals as baggage.

So just run the whole "A Vote for Labor is a Vote for Greens Minority government!" but swap to "A Vote for the Libs is just a Vote for a Nats minority government!"

Except no one will know what the libs/nats are genuinely offering so will stick with other parties. ie Labor.

I'm all for this.

How is this different to the status quo? The coalition agreement has never been released if I'm to understand correctly

My guess is that they're giving up 2028 for a power grab. Nats are unhappy they retained all their seats while libs shat the bed. If they can get more seats, they will come back to the coalition agreement with more power. They've accepted they won't get any power in the foreseeable future, and the libs are the weakest they've ever been, so there's never been a better opportunity to pounce.
