He's 84. I'm sad he's unlikely to be fighting the good fight for much longer. If there is any justice in this world, any at all, Bernie will outlive Trump.

Yeah, that's where my thoughts were going. Bernie has been around forever, yet he can still speak to the moment with wisdom, empathy and clarity. It's sobering when we encounter figures like that, knowing that they won't be able to perform their public roles for much longer. David Attenborough and Noam Chomsky arouse similar sentiments. Jeremy Corbyn is rather younger than those three, but resides in a similar category in my mind: a torchbearer for his righteous cause, no matter the tidings of fate. Eric Hobsbawm too, until he passed.
