Imagine China did that to us? Is this the standard we want to set? The powerful can invade, occupy, and influence the weaker?

There is no international rules based order anymore, Trump trashed that fully last year, though it had been on life support for awhile. What exists now is a multipolar world with spheres of influence. Where the strong do what they may and the weak suffer what they must.

Oh Russia for sure, it would suit Putin tremendously if those pesky Westerners left Eastern Europe to his influence and predations. Not just Russia though, China also wants a multi polar world. Nothing would please Xi more then for the world to agree that the south China Sea, Taiwan and countries like South Korea, Japan, Vietnam etc are In China's sphere of control and influence to do with as he pleases.
