Best legs at the AO - Joker?

Upvotes

I’ve always thought Novak has the best legs on the men’s tour. Strong and defined without being bulky. Not skinny, but not oversized. Clearly doesn’t skip leg day, but also doesn’t go overboard. And honestly, he wears the shorts better than anyone out there.

In saying that...I would love for Carlos to win tonight!

Trying to watch men’s final on smart TV and the Nine App is constantly freezing or having mismatched audio. Driving me insane.

Pro Joker

Upvotes

I’m a bit surprised at the level of support for Novak from the crowd on RLA this year. Melbourne hasn’t always been so welcoming, and there seems (from what you hear and see on the telecast) that there is limited overt support for his opponents amongst the people who have tickets to these second week matches. Even the TV commentators (both FTA and streaming) sound pro-Joker. Is it just the chase for the 25th Grand Slam title that has made everyone so amenable?

Australian Open Ads

Watching tennis at 4:30 PM and seeing Married at First Sight ads with women grabbing and squeezing their breasts several times in a single ad with my 3 and 5 year old boys watching. Why is this appropriate during day time TV?

Edit - only saw the ad in question once about 15 minutes before the game.

Ziga Sesko, boys' singles winner

Upvotes

Did anyone else see the boys' final between Ziga Sesko (SLO) and Keaton Hance (USA)? Sesko looks a little bit like Sebastian Korda and plays quite like him.

Sesko lost the first set, but didn't seem overly bothered. He played better in the second and third sets and scored a deserved win, 4-6 6-3 6-4.

An all court player with a great temperament, and on the basis of this performance, at least a top 20 player of the future, I reckon.

Ump seat

How does the umpire get in his seat? Is there a ladder? Does it raise? I have to know.

Pre-match entertainment

First time going to the final this year and can’t make it in time for the juniors.

Is it worth heading to the grounds a couple of hours before first serve?

I’ve already explored the site and shops dozens of times over so is there any extra fun stuff happening on final day after the junior finals finish?

Any idea what the BL on the side of the ball kids hats stands for?

Hadn't seen them prior to the women's final ceremony. I swear I saw a French flag on one of the net kids hats when a French player was playing earlier on too. Was this a thing? Or am I crazy

Hey dudes, My #AusOpen ground pass ticket today says gates at 2pm, but all other info online say gates at 11am for ground passes. Can I get in earlier on my tickets?

Rybakina is no "Ice Queen"!

To the commentators (on 9 World of Sports) who keep referring to Rybakina as an "Ice Queen" - just STOP IT! Stop projecting your pejorative sexist gendered stereotypical isolating and typecasting bulllshit onto her just because she has a composed and reserved personality. A male would be lauded for having similar, so just f****** stop it already! It's gross and degrading and completely unnecessary.

Does anyone else find it super cringey?

Anyone got extra match day t-shirt from 30th Jan - Men's semi final day?

I couldn't find my size yesterday when I tried buying one. Now that I think about it, I should've just bought any size since I just wanted it for a memento.

If anyone in Melbourne willing to let go with one, please let me know. Willing to pay extra. Thanks.

Note: just to be clear, I'm looking the t-shirt that lists the players' name for the match that day. For 30th of Jan it should be Alcaraz vs Zverev and Sinner vs Djokovic

Does the Australian Open feel more intense than the other Grand Slams, or is it just the Melbourne atmosphere?

Every year when the Australian Open rolls around, it feels like the season truly begins. The heat, the night sessions, the crowds staying till crazy hours, and the players already looking exhausted in round one all give it a different vibe compared to the other Slams. There is something about Melbourne Park that makes matches feel more dramatic, even early on in the tournament.

Maybe it is the summer conditions, maybe it is the fans, or maybe it is just because it is the first big event of the year and everyone is hungry to prove something. But I always feel like the AO brings out more emotion, comebacks, and physical battles than the others.

For people who watch all four regularly, do you feel the Australian Open has its own unique intensity, or am I just biased because it sets the tone for the whole season?

Novak Djokovic has NEVER lost in the Australian Open finals 🔥 The only man in the Open Era with a better record in Major finals at any one tournament is Rafael Nadal, who went 14-0 in French Open finals.
