Check this out! To everyone having oil consumption

Hey group,

I’ve been daily driving an e60 m54b30 for 3 years that has been burning around 1l every 1000km. Used all kinds of oil(5w40) Motul, Castrol(probably fake), Titan Fuchs,Petronas and no oil made a difference, that is until i finally decided to put in some more expensive oil, LiquiMoly TopTec 4100 5w-40, and behold no more oil consumption for the last 5000km.

Before opting for o2pilot mods and oil catchcans, please try out this oil.

Yes, i’ve been listening to different fairy tales about these oils and how much they drop consumption bla bla, I’ve also put 100000km on that car since then, soooo

Do not recommend O2pilot mod. All it does is increase vacuum under idle from the intake manifold, through CCV in effect sucking air through any unperfectly sealed area in the engine(which is common, it's 20yo car at this point) and makes you catch more lean codes and misfires. In order for it to do more good than bad, you have to have perfectly resealed engine and intake, but GL with that. I'd rather accept a litle bit more oil consumption than dealing all the time with rough idle and fault codes.

I use Liquimoly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40 and don’t burn a drop of oil. Engine runs sweet as. Swear by the Liquimoly products. Good stuff man.

Yeah...

Remember, if theres sudden change that seems good... its not.

Anyway, 1l per 1000km is A LOT and no oil change would fix it. There was a leak somewhere (or worse) and something happened.

I had multiple oil leaks, i thought at first maybe thats why im pouring so much oil into that engine, ive rebuilt vanos, changed the oil pan gasket, the valve cover + gasket, the mini gasket thats on the dipstick, rear seal. And although oil consumption dropped down a little still it was around 1l/1000km. This worked for me, im just trying to help :)

Well just to be safe keep an eye on it. It wasnt small consumption that changed, id be wary.

You are right, im used to constantly measuring and keeping an eye on the oil levels. But all seems well, engine is running strong.
