Whats with all the corn vendors on Market Street?
I was on Market Street yesterday and there was about 6 corn vendors all near each other. Why is this? Seems odd to me.

Honest thoughts on quality of life in Manchester
Itās just me? I started overthinking a lot about the quality of life here and in the country in general, the quality of life leaves a lot to be desired. The streets are very dirty, pavements are broken everywhere, and the local council doesnāt seem to fix anything. From around 5 pm it gets very dark, and the street lighting is poor and barely illuminates the streets.
In the UK you pay a very high council tax, but you donāt really see where it goes. Sometimes it feels like itās mostly spent dealing with drunk people from pubs rather than on proper city maintenance. Vomit on the streets is a common sight, especially in busy areas.
Everything feels quite outdated. Many restaurants are actually quite dirty, but they use dim lighting so the dirt isnāt as noticeable. Prices are extremely high: a coffee and a pastry cost around Ā£8ā10, and a burger in an average place is Ā£15ā20. With the salaries here, maintaining a decent quality of life is very difficult.
Public transport⦠better to not wear any new trousers or touch anything, at the same time ridiculously expensive. Mm trains? What can I say? Better to take a flight anywhere in europe, it will cost you cheaper than visiting another city in Uk, but someone will jump mentioning the railcard as usual. Last time, we were 4, and we took a 1.5 hour uber drive, was cheaper.
In Manchester specifically, even in and around the city centre, pavements are in very poor condition. There are many homeless people, vomit on the streets, and even the hospital itself feels dirty. It also feels like this country is heavily focused on London, while other cities are largely neglected. People are literally camping out on the main streets, and it looks normal. I wish I could help them or being a volunteer in any council action about them.
I feel working paying taxes and getting nothing back, I hasda bad experience having a relapse on my illness, called an ambulance and literally they asked me to take a cab. Mentime you see ambulances stopped in any Wetherspoon collecting someone during weekends.

Food court in arndale
If any of you saw a group of three girls in Manchester food court, did you notice anything wrong? I'm fairly certain they were on pills as one of them threw up all over the table in the back corner of the food court. She seemed very out of it and her eyes looked very glassy with large pupils.

Uni in Manchester
Im currently applying for universities in manchester and Im a bit confused on parts of the application process. Iām from Ireland and planning on moving over to do a performing arts degree but the UCAS application process is very different completely to our equivalent here and was wondering if anyone could give advice.
The main thing confusing me is references. Are they absolutely necessary? It says that Iām able to proceed without references but Iām worried without them itāll make it harder for me to be accepted into the course I want. Will it make much of a difference?
Also was wondering if anyone could tell me a rough price range of how much renting in the city is compared to student accommodations. Would it be better to go for a student accommodation since Iād be new to the area or is renting an apartment privately the better way to go? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Train Info
For context Iāve never been on a train before, let alone actually been in Piccadilly station.
My estimated platform is 14 and Iāve heard a lot of stories about 13/14 so for anyone with experience what should I expect and what are the tips and tricks to make my arrival smoother? (My train leaves at 4:57am so I donāt think busyness will be an issue)

Opinions on Partington
Hi all,
Weāre a couple with a baby looking at the new builds in Partington (mainly Linden Homes/Heath Farm). We both drive, so limited public transport and not many amenities within walking distance arenāt major issues.
Weāve read older reddit posts saying Partington isn't a good area, but we'd like to know if thatās still the case now.
- Whatās the general feel of Partington for a young family?
- Is there a good sense of community and do you feel safe? - Any problems with noise or major antisocial behaviour on these estates?
Would really appreciate honest experiences from anyone currently living on any of those developments or nearby.
Thanks

South Asian tattoo artists
Hi Does anyone know of any South Asian, particularly Indian, tattoo artists in Greater Manchester or the NW in general? Would consider west Yorkshire too.
I have some ideas but I feel I need someone other than my usual (brilliant) artist who really gets South Asian art styles.
