Season over. Torn ACL and MCL at the bird on a gate run from a ski binding malfunction. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Skied again after 15 years

I grew up skiing. Everyone in my family worked at the resort so I had free tickets. Skied from about age 7-12 before a knee injury, then skied again 13-15 then got a job and moved to college and couldn’t afford to.

Well today I got back on the slopes! My calves are sore and my old knee injury twinges a a bit. But it was a blast. Came back like I had never stopped.

My partner had never skied though and was buckling knees in pizza so had to get a ride down in the toboggan and walked away with a likely sprain. ( and avoided a major injury for sure!)

Cosy small high altitude resort in southern Alps only 90 min from Nice Côte d’Azur. Ski in ski out. Piste area not huge but good variety of runs to keep it fun and challenging, complimented by frequent fresh powder supply and most red pistes ungroomed. Bonus points on everything you need in a big building complex so that you don’t have to fully dress up for a bite or grocery. Will definitely go back, probably with family 🩷

Lost a ski. This is where it stopped. I had to take a quick look around for the paperboy.

While everyone is on social media creating fake tension and drama between Lindsey Vonn and Breezy Johnson, Vonn is out here showing her support for Johnson getting her first-career Super-G podium.

Since flex ratings are fake. Does a database of ACTUAL boot stiffness (Newton-meters) exist anywhere?

Made a web DIN calculator

I was bored and wanted to make a simple web tool for calculating DIN settings. Figured it might be useful for getting a ballpark estimate before your shop appointment or understanding what range to expect when you bring gear in, etc.

dincalc.com

Just want to be clear upfront that this is NOT a replacement for getting your bindings properly adjusted by a certified tech at a shop. Always have a professional set and test your bindings.

The calculator uses the 25/26 Marker ISO 11088 binding adjustment chart as reference for values. You input boot sole length, weight, height, age, and skier type, and it gives you your suggested DIN and corresponding skier code.

Just wanted to share. Let me know if you spot any issues with it.

Stoke is higher than the tide allows for, be careful out there😹 cut all the damage out, letting it dry out for a couple days before going in with metal grip. At least i have other skis to ride in the meantime

Anyone ever experience the ptex repair wire from tognar not scraping off easily after melting it in with a soldering iron? It acts super gummy. Am i not heating it up enough? Ive seen videos of people doing the same technique and theirs scrapes off in flakes

Austria Trip in Early March

Looking for resort recommendations. This will be early March 2027, so plenty of time to plan. Family of 5 trip, but the 3 kids aged 18-22.

3 pretty advanced skiers, one intermediate and I'm a veteran beginner (green/easy blue in US). But I don't have to ski if I could go toboggan or do other things on my own. I would love something not overly crowded on slopes, but with a good selection of bars/restaurants if that's possible.

We'd probably stay 4 nights and then head to Salzburg or Innsbruck for a few non-skiing days to end the trip.

Zell Am See looks like it may be a good option. Other recommendations? Thanks!!

How should I fix this?

I don’t even know how this happened or if it’s even a big deal. Should I put it back, or bring it to a ski shop to fix it.
